We're back after a first game loss. First inning already played with an Alonso homer giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.



Bassitt squeezed out of the bottom half after a dubious balk put runners at second and third.

Jean, Jean, the Met-Killing Machine solos a shot to right and cuts the Mets' lead in half.



Homer #100 for Segura — and 11th against the Mets, more than against any other team.

The loneliness here is palpable.

Roman Quinn seemingly covers a lot more ground than Odubel Herrera.

Interestingly, Keith agreed with the send/aggressiveness: would take an on-target throw to get him at third, and it was a very close play even with a good throw.



I think that one's on Joey Cora/Buck, less on Nido.

Bassitt sharp again. He doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he is tenacious and just knows how to pitch. Reminds me a little of Hershiser in that respect.

Girardi decides not to pinch hit for the youngster Stott with chance to close the gap and Shreve carves him up to end the inning.

Phillies D is the gift that just keeps giving. Hoskins boots an easy grounder to allow the leadoff Met (Lindor) to reach.

It's also why they probably won't be hanging around at the end of the year. Hoskins just kneeling down after booting that ball was a bad look. That's still a live ball, man.



Quinn is impressive though.
