Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 The /pukes/ world champion Atlanta Braves visit the Apple tonight as Max Fried (2-2, 3.00) opposes Chis Bassitt (3-1, 2.25).Ronald Acuna is back but the Braves are just 10-13, having lost 2 of 3 over the weekend to the Rangers. Matt Olson replaces Freddie Freeman and is off to a good start but I'm just not as scared of him. Our pals Travis d'Arnaud and Guillermo Heredia will be there, as will Darren O'Day and Colin HcHugh.Sticking with the Beeges, who served this forthcoming 17-game winning streak well in its first day.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Smith gets out of bed and removes his apnia mask, having (a) finally gotten two starts in a row, ( just collected four hits and 3 RBI in his last game, and © hearing that the biggest impediment to his playing time is gone. Then he arrives at the park and learns he's not in the lineup. Tough day for a lefty.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 On the other hand, he also wasn't optioned to the minors whilst he slept either, something which was considered a possibility around the time he was putting the mask on.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that he's at least going to be a regular against righties going forward. Just a coinkydink that they drew a lefty today.I remember Ralph Kiner being flabbergasted seeing Wally Backman not in the lineup a day after he went 6-for-6. Apparently, they had platoons in Ralph's day, but the hot hand was the hot hand. And not a lot of platoon players had splits quite like Wally.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Is Keith Hernandez sick? Or on vacation? He's been gone for more than a week, it seems.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Bad call on what should have been strike 3 to Swanson in the 5th winds up costing Bassitt around a dozen extra pitches despite no actual damage on the scoreboard.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Nice leadoff 'hitting' by McSquirrel
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Fried has, like, no ass.Like, Jerry Blevens could throw an elbow at Jacob deGrom and say, "Look at that guy! Where's his ass?!"He might even have negative ass.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Slow IGT -- Canha just whiffed but CanhaBOOMED earlier.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Those extra pitches Bassitt hadda throw after he was robbed of the strikeout vs. Swanson each felt like four pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 I don't get how the booth represents a guy hitting against the shift or bunting for a hit as something like a stolen hit that a player in a slump will do because he can't get something like a legitimate hit. That's just good baseball. Hit away from the shift all day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 And now the game is tied with two in scoring position because of dudes going the other way against the shifty.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Is it too old-school to cry "Hit 'em where they ain't!"?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Bassitt, down 3-2, coming out for the seventh.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Bassitt's curve is working great, but he tried to double up with it against Acuña and that's probably not a good plan. But somehow Nimzo tracked it down. Somehow.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 Yeah. Great catch by Zimmo
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Matzek has really eaten up every hitter he's faced, lefty or righty, but he's lost his control.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 So McHugh coming in with 2 outs, bases loaded to face Canha.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 Do the Mets counter with Dom?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Ah, McHugh! It's like you've forgotten who raised you!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 The Nike swoosh on the Braves uniform looks like a stylized accent mark over the A in "Atlanta."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 =Centerfield post_id=91123 time=1651542224 user_id=65]Fucking blue balls inning.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Alonso says "get out of my way shorty!"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Alonso can make up for that ballhoggery with the bat in the bottom half of the inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 How many shit hits are the Braves going to get tonight?
