Yeah, not a big day for A-teamers to get on the bus. They should probably have two games a day, with a home squad and a travel squad, to allow everybody to get their appearances in during the foreshortened spring.

I can just see Palka hitting two homers today, then rounding the bases to cheers of "Who needs Conforto?"

Or maybe not.

But it will be interesting to see of he can regain his power swing that produced 27 homers with the Chisox a few years ago.

Homers from Guillorme (leadoff), Smitty, and Plummer in the first inning and the Mets lead 4-0!!!

Your final was 6-2.



Jake Mangum was all over the place, on the plus and minus. He went 1-3, but struck out the two times he made out, and got caught stealing the third time. But he also started in center over Khalil Lee and showed why by recording two outfield assists, one on a relay by Guillorme.



Smitty had a homer and a triple in his first two trips.

A lineup befitting a lower-case home opener (oblique-nursing Marte the only prospective starter not in there, pending DH decisions, and that's a fraud of a position).

I think the reason Goldschmidt annoys me is that, when other teams aren't sure which Mountain Time hitters will translate their productivity to another ballpark, the Cards always seem to pick the right ones.
