I can watch the Pirates. On my regular Comcast feed; no jumping through hoops or paying extra for Nee York ads

The cart boy at my supermarket is beyond a Pirates/Steelers fan. Icould talk to him at least once a week about our team.

The Mets don't care if I watch them. They made that clear when they bought their own channel and made it exclusive to NYC cable outlets and blacked out anybody close enough to drive six hours to a game on other outlets such as ESPN.. gee I could eat at a Rte 80 Denny's and watch the Mets all in one day. And not have dad with me. Woo haa.

I miss baseball. I've waited numerous years for the Mets to give me a reason to love them. None. No TV love, no extra season love(not that I'd stay up til 1am anyway)

Give me reasons to love the Mets in 2022

I really don't understand why the Mets are blacked out in your area. I live closer to New York than you do, but I can get my Mets games on the Extra Innings package.

It makes no sense.

I can tell you one thing, that ballpark in Pittsburgh is beautiful, Fboy and I (and Seawolf & family) can all attest from our combined visit there in 2019.

Brandon Nimmo is, perpetually, like seven years old.

Francisco Lindor seems like every day is his birthday and he just got surprised.

Jacob deGrom is the very best pitcher on earth — a remarkable blend of stuff, approach, mechanics, preparation, and execution — and if it's turned him into asshole, nobody's noticed it yet.

Most folks in baseball like Buck Showalter, too.

Rusty Staub would cry if you left.

Beyond that, go ahead and root like heck for the Buccaroonies. It should only create a conflict six days a year.

Hard to beat that.

Bet if we did some digging we could find a picture of whippoorcoob and Rusty lol.

That's shit. I feel for you. I'm very long drives away from both Phoenix and Denver (~7 hours to each), but I'm blacked out from watching either of those teams. If either of those were "my team", I suspect I'd spend a lot more time at the AAA ballpark.

Go see the Mets when the visit Pittsburgh and make a giant sign that says "I DROVE 6 HOURS TO WATCH THE METS BECAUSE I'M BLACKED OUT AT HOME".

It's shocking to me that MLB is doing everything they can to attract a larger audience, and "let's stop blackouts" isn't anywhere on that list.

I'm blacked out against the Nats and O's which averages to about 20 games a year between them.

I don't get it. I pay for a streaming service, I watch the commercials, and I sing the jingles. What's the problem?

Posted

At least you're geographically close to those areas. I'm blacked out against the Phillies, which makes sense because they want me to subscribe to whatever the local pay network is for the Phillies.

But cooby and the Mets makes no sense at all. If it was me, I'd be on the phone with MLB asking for an explanation. Or trying anyway. I doubt I'd be able to get to talk to anyone who could tell me anything of value.

I've called Comcast, I have two neighbors who are mets fans…they've looked into it. All fingers point back to the Mets

I like the banner idea Boy named Seo!

I used to have long conversations with Zvon about this and his suggestions came to naught too

What channels are blacked out? PIX11 or whatever it's called these days?

I assume you don't get SNY, if you did I can't imagine why that would be

blacked out only for games.

Posted

I have SNY on my Verizon package and it's blacked out for Mets games and other MLB copyright stuff. But I get to watch the Mets telecasts, both SNY and PIX, with Extra Innings, unless they're playing the Phillies.

If SNY isn't available as a paid subscription where cooby lives, I can't see what the reason for a blackout would be.

Along with "let's avoid work stoppages," "let's not keep changing the rules to make the game less interesting," etc. Mr. Magoo was less myopic.

Ke'Bryan Hayes.

  1. Agrees to biggest contract in Pirates history

  2. Goes out to play third and gets hurt diving for a ball.

  3. Realizes that — gulp! — the deal was pending his passing a physical.

The rest is up to the lawyers, but what a turn of the fates for Hayes and the Alleghenys!
