Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Ice.Was a good athlete
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I remember when they were both MFY prospects and writers were wondering if they had kept the wrong one (Bernie) when they traded Gerald.RIPLater
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Didn't have much left, on offense or defense, but he fell into the lineup when Carlos Beltran and Mike Cameron smashed into each other in San Diego. Cliff Floyd got hurt doing a belly flop later in the same game.Mostly a fourth outfielder, and sometimes fifth, but he had his best years with Atlanta, because of course he did.It goes without saying that 55 is too young. Here's to The Cancer Moonshot doing some good.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I remember him most as a Brewer and a Brave. RIP

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Gerald also made a great first impression in 1992.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 My biggest memory of Gerald Williams is of him engaging in fisticuffs with fellow future Met Pedro Martinez. Most bench-clearing brawls are just posturing, but Ice got some serious punches in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 A lot of Mets in that show: Ice, Miguel Cairo, Pedro, Daubach, Robo Hernandez. That's just the principal actors.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 G. Williams doubled to start the eleventh off K. Rogers and scored the deciding run on the final ball four, but I'm willing to forget about that for now.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2022 Author Posted February 15, 2022 Mike Cameron fondly remembers his teammate.“He got me through my first year in New York. He was always so positive. I struggled the first half of that season, but he stayed with me and never let me get frustrated. He was a special guy. He would take care of you as a teammate and give you good advice where to go after a game or where not to go. It's hard to go out and just perform without a support system and he was one of those guys who provided it.”https://www.nj.com/yankees/2022/02/ex-mets-star-pays-his-respects-to-former-yankees-outfielder-gerald-williams.htmlhttps://www.nj.com/yankees/2022/02/ex-mets-star-pays-his-respects-to-former-yankees-outfielder-gerald-williams.html
