Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Though there was no formal announcement, earlier this month, the Mets cut a deal to bring one their most beloved former shortstops on a minor league contract.Matt Reynolds, the team's second-round pick from 2012, played for the Mets in 2016 and 2017, going .228 / .300 / .351 // .652 in 226 plate appearances. He also joined the Mets for the 2015 World Series, taking Ruben Tejada's roster spot after he was assassinated by Chase Utley. Had he appeared in a game, he would have been only the second player in history to make his big league debut in the World Series.https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2018/02/matt-reynolds-mets-1024x655.jpg>
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Razorback. For some reason I recall he was a 2nd round draft pick.He looks a lot like a ballplayer but never really played like one

That would have been a neat little factoid if he'd gotten into the game too.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 You were really trying to make us think of Rey Ordonez, weren't you?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 16, 2021 Author Posted December 16, 2021 As if anybody can STOP thinking about Rey Ordoñez.But — FUN FACT! — if you go by Reynolds' Twitter handle and Players' Weekend jersey, he actually self-identifies as "Rey-Rey."
