G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Jayce Tingler reportedly out as Padre skipper.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Author Posted October 2, 2021 Padres say Tingler's still their manager…for today.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Well, now he can resume his career in the porn business.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Poor Jayce getting the Art Howe treatment."We don't want or need you to manage, now get out there and manage."
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 Jayce Tingler's Padre sense is no longer tingling. He's been officially Rojased.

roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Every Tingler knows that someday he will be Rojased. Some are merely Booning for now.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Author Posted October 14, 2021 Cardinals have had enough of that Shildt. Mike is out as St. Loo skipper.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 It appears to have surprised every baseball writer, as well. Perhaps the next manager of the Mets or Padres?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Shildt goes to Schitts Creek.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 I'm curious what the philosophical differences were. But I'd have already called Shildt and/or his agent.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 He has such a silly name. Maybe he can change it to Bob Shildt or Tom Shildt or something like that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Sounds like the post-season meeting didn't go as planned.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 I'm pretty sure it was one of those what's the right way to hang the toilet paper? thingies. That's ended more than one managerial tenure.#PhilosophicalDifferences
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 More seriously, that guy's team had a terrific second half, starting with pretty much the moment I dreamed up the notion that the Cards would be bailing at the deadline and sending the Mets Adam Wainwright.#DOH
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 From this quote, I'm guessing that management told him to do something in the WC loss to the Dodgers and he didn't obey:
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Really? That's sounds like Mozeliak was asking for a lot of faith.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2021 Author Posted October 25, 2021 Toast and Marmol-ade for Cards. From the subscription-based Athletic:The St. Louis Cardinals will announce Oliver Marmol as the team's next manager on Monday morning, sources tell The Athletic. Marmol, 35, had been bench coach for the Cardinals since 2019 and previously was first base coach for the two seasons prior. The Cardinals fired manager Mike Shildt earlier this month after four seasons with the club. John Mozeliak, Cardinals president of baseball operations, cited “philosophical differences” for doing so. Shildt ended his tenure in St. Louis with a 252-199 record and three playoff appearances.Marmol, 35, will be the youngest manager in MLB. He will also be the first Cardinals manager of color since Mike González in 1940.The Cardinals, who finished the 2021 season 90-72, lost 3-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League wild card game.https://theathletic.com/news/st-louis-cardinals-to-introduce-oliver-marmol-as-manager-on-monday-sources/trsYs3liFFbf/https://theathletic.com/news/st-louis-cardinals-to-introduce-oliver-marmol-as-manager-on-monday-sources/trsYs3liFFbf/

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I agree, smg58, but I fear that if they want Shildt they won't be able to get him as he's already under consideration by SD and the Mets are waiting until they hire a GM/POBO.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I wouldn't worry about that. If they are able to recognize the right guy, there are hundreds of right guys out there.I think a greater concern is the effect the front office job search might have on delaying the Mets in the player market, which is a much more finite field.
