MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 A team that (on paper) it looks like they have a chance against. But these are the Mets, so hold your breath.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Stranding the leadoff single on 1st ... what a concept!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 And if Lindor had bunted the game would be tied.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 I asked a machine learning algorithm, CLIP Guided Diffusion, for a "Mets baseball game on Mercury" and gave it a shot of Citi Field to start with..what, did you want to talk about the actual game?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 So four good innings out of five for Hill on the hill. The one inning was pretty ugly but he did a decent job of at least limiting the damage. Now we just need some of those runs things I've heard so much about.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 There is a glimmer of good news: we're into the Nats' bullpen
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Remember multi-run innings? How many games can you think of in August with more than one multi-run inning?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Lindor is essentially this NYM era's version of Beltran ... except that he's not as smart a player.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Another non-definitive replay reversal.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Hey here's a good idea, let's get three hit in a game we really need by a team mailing it in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 No hits in the game since the Baez homer in the fourth.Efficient!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Another PH appearance = another mound visit from the PC
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Let's see what angry McNeil can do here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Hey, he dropped one in!Not so much an angry hit, but whatever!

Instead he simply pulled the ball into the shift on the first pitch and was an easy out. Baez HR'd on the next pitch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 One bloop and three balls that never left the infield.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 The damn Nationals aren't even trying to win, and we still can't beat them.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 You can't go 9 innings vs a Nats pitching staff minus Scherzer, Strasberg, Corbin, Gio Gonzalez, and most of their relieving corps and tally one run and expect to compete for anything.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 I'd normally consider the walk to be a good thing but getting the leadoff guy on seems to decrease our odds of scoring.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Lindor swinging at pitches at his ankles.
