Lotta people seem to can't wait for the Mets to fall flat on their face the next

13 games. I'm looking for 8-5. 9-4 would be a nice birthday present (for me).

Rooting for a Mets' run differential of +1 or better tonight and in all games going forward.

Jim Bowden, failed GM and the worst writer in The Athletic picks ATL to win the division and says this about the Mets:

[bLOCKQUOTE]Bottom line/prediction: The Mets have been a mediocre team this season and they regressed as soon as August hit, with Scott on Wednesday calling their recent stretch “unacceptably bad.” After losing seven of nine against the Reds, Marlins and Phillies, the Mets have reeled off three straight wins against the Nationals. Still, they are not expected to get back deGrom or Syndergaard until well into September, and by then it might be too late. The Phillies and Braves have much easier schedules the rest of the way (New York begins a stretch of 13 straight against the Dodgers and Giants on Friday), and because of that, I see the Mets finishing a distant third in the division.[/bLOCKQUOTE]

Now I'm mad!!! LGM!!!

There are keys to beating the Dodgers:

NYM in 1-run games: 25-17

LAD in 1-run games: 13-21

NYM in Extra Innings: 7-3

LAD in Extra Innings: 1-12

Gotta keep them close and late.

LAD:

1. Trea Turner ® 2B

2. Max Muncy (L) 1B

3. Will Smith ® C

4. Corey Seager (L) SS

5. AJ Pollock ® LF

6. Chris Taylor ® 3B

7. Cody Bellinger (L) CF

8. Billy McKinney (L) RF

9. Julio Urias (L) P

They have a player that the Mets DFA'd in RF!

METS:

1. Brandon Nimmo (L) CF

2. Pete Alonso ® 1B

3. Brandon Drury ® 2B

4. J.D. Davis ® 3B

5. Jonathan Villar (S) SS

6. James McCann ® C

7. Kevin Pillar ® LF

8. Albert Almora Jr. ® RF

9. Tylor Megill ® P

That's a weird line-up. Baez is still out. No Conforto, Smith or McNeil against a LHP.

So crazy it might work.

Or just crazy. We shall see!

Neither one of those predicts a good near term future.

Megill gets through the second on 11 pitches. #progress

Assuming this game started on time, how does it take 51 minutes to play two

innings and the result is only 1-sniffle?

I didn't like McCann unable to get around on a lefthander.

Four Dodgers who've hit 200 homers in uniform since they moved to LA:

Um ... Eric Karros, Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero, and Garvey.

Good to get Smith in there.

I realize they had to rest him sometime, but I can't remember Pillar's last hard-hit ball.
