Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 I had Bob Friend down for the second. Not quite.Feels perverse to see Nimmo chase a 3-2 pitch for a strikeout.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Hey, Megill just made it through five.As pitcher of record, too.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Nice mid-season pick-up we just made.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Gary Thorne is part of my Mets history and part of my modest Orioles history, but man, he's blowing calls all over the place. He was, very interestingly, discussing earlier how broadcasters are doing such a good job calling games off of monitors that teams are possibly reluctant to put them back on the road. But went unspoken was what a poor example he was of this.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 My fantasy umpire team would have tossed Nogowski for throwing his bat like that.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Good job, Tylor. Have a seat and hope the pen doesn't blow it.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Blanketyblank really stung that one
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 (edited) Pirates bring in a new pitcher, he gives up a GB error, and the pitching coach needs to come out for a conference!!And the worst part is, this doesn't count as a "visit" since a pich-hitter was coming up.And the visit didn't help. And now we're going to stop the game again. And nothing changes. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 It's a double headset play! Fantastic!!! Go kick out that idiot. Or someone from The 7 Line should rough him up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Another double play and I'm not sure the Pirates got either out.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 It's a 3-headset inning! Check with Elias on the record.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Mets got the call back at first, but I was thinking that Frazier didn't control his juggle at second until he had come across the bag.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 If McNeil keeps going against the shift like that, my heart will do what my heart's going to do.
dinosaur jesus Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Davis grounding into the fourth double play of the game after two home runs feels weirdly appropriate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Six pitches into a reliever's outing and we need a mound conference.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 The WSH game was stopped for the evening b/c of a shooting outside the ballpark. Two of the SD players went into the stands and took their families into the Clubhouse. There was a delay and then after the "all-clear", the game was stopped for the night.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 This is quite a night. See the TWIB thread for more.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 We can't have one long, laborious but tension-free game, can we?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 One run leads are protected at a rate of about 80%Two run leads are protected at a rate of about 90%So we just went from a 4 in 5 shot of winning this in regulation to more like 9 in 10 ... at least in a theoretical sense.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Another lousy call by Marvin Hudson but at least Gary C. and Keith are amused.
