Unbearable -- Cubs allegedly scouting Mets prospects amid fire sale talk

Lots of reports and speculation that the Cubs are sellers after the 11-game losing streak and will be looking to offload some talent.



Talks for Bryant didn't get far in the spring, but the asking price might be lower now. He's having a nice year, with 16 homers, 43 rbi and .268 ave.



Do we need offense over starting pitching? Martino and others suggest the Mets would be more willing to part with a better prospect(s) if they can get Bryant + a pitcher.



Buster and his buddies say it will be a buyers market with wild cards apparently coming out of the NL West and fading Central and East teams look to deal.



Do we want any of these guys?

Sure, it would be great to have them, but at what cost? I think I'd rather give up someone off the big-league club than one of the prized prospects, but that might not be enough to get a deal done.

I think JD Davis and a minor, minor league prospect (not our top 5) might be enough to bring back Kris Bryant if Bryant is on the last year of his contract.

We can only vote for one (I voted Bryant), but Davis, Szapucki and #2 minor league prospect SS Mauricio (Lindor is our shortstop) might be enough to bring back both Bryant and Davies.

The Pads are supposedly also hot for Bryant and ready to bid. They have Manny Machado at third, so I'm guessing they see him displacing Eric Hosmer at first, and maybe playing some outfield.



Bryant's from Las Vegas, but he spent three years at UC San Diego, so it may well be his preferred landing spot, if he has any say.

They want Mauricio? Cool. Give us Bryant AND Davies, you cheap fuckers. Top prospects are expensive. We'll even throw in a low-A pitchy guy.



You want MORE? Near-major-league-ready? For a rental? Go fish in the Padres' pool. Good luck dragging the bottom of their minor league system, post-this-offseason.
