Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Hey friend, do it again. Ballantine Ballantine Beer!OK, that was an old MFY broadcast jingle, but for some reason it just popped into my head as I started to type and it sort of works here. We're going to see lefty Brett Anderson in the Cub Scout unis, a guy who we were supposed to see Tuesday night and then thought we'd see Wednesday afternoon. And the Mets will pitch someone ... at least I hope they will.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Stock, kind of stocky. And already better than deGrom!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Nothing gives me more of a confidence boost than when a team sends me out to the mound in #89.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Stupid 7 inning rule again not working in our favor.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 And having gotten some chips against their pen in the earlier games, I'd have more confidence in the late innings against them ... if there were late innings.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I'm anticipating a Tropeano debut in the [CROSSOUT]ninth[/CROSSOUT] seventh.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 At first glance I thought there was a female umpire at third base
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 He is pretty. I don't deny. Two great pinch-hit at-bats and the Mets have something going in the sixth.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Hook is a great name for a pitching coach.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Bases bloated, tying runs on base against Boxie, and the big bats coming.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 I'll take an RBI hit with a box of burgers to go please.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Ah Lindy. You've got to pull the switch on that.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Can't take a called strike three there. My god.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Going to need a grand slam, thanks Pete.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 How about this rule change: if a team calls time in order to have a mound conference, then ALL activity has to cease for the length of the T.O., included the pitchers throwing in the pen. This would at least eliminate the situation where the game is being stalled for the sole purpose of stalling the game.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Not going to get a better chance than that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 You just knew Pete was going to chase one of those high hard ones. It was just a question of whether Boxburger could get one high enough.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Unbelievable. Bases loaded with no outs and Lindor-Smith-Alonso all strike out. Someone has to be able to put a ball into play.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Just like that, Castro makes it so the Mets won't have to worry about facing Hader.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Two very lackluster game twos in DHs this week with sweeps on the table in both.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Swinging 2-0, down by five in the [CROSSOUT]ninth[/CROSSOUT] seventh.Makes me wanna file a suit.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Well, those two series were remarkably similar.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Yup. Clutch comebacks vs top-notch starters and shut-down closers only to follow that up with non-competative showings vs reclamation openers and no-name bull-penners.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Also, the rainouts forcing the series to finish with a jerry-rigged doubleheader. Also, both shutdown closers being lefties who clock in at 100 being taken deep for a game-tying solo homer by a righthanded hitter to left-center field, in the seventh-inning-disguised-as-a-ninth-inning in game two of the series/game one of the double-header.
