Cubs are at home in the SNB game right now leading 2-0 in the 6th inning, so they're getting in pretty late tonight.

Been hot lately though. They took 5 of 6 from SDP shortly before we played them and are 26 - 12 since May 1st

Rainy Monday in the tri-state area. Last thing this team needs is another postponed game.

NOAA - Corona, NY - A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 9pm.

Low around 66. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts

between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

We owe these frauds a good beating, having been largely non-competitive in a 3-game sweep in Wrigleyville in April.

The Mets haven't beat the Cubs at Citi since Terry Collins was their manager.

Jake Marisnick may be the first ex-Met to play in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game who never played as a Met in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game.

Jake Marisnick will not be the first ex-Met to play in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game who never played as a Met in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game. Brad Clontz was a Met in 1998 whose only two appearances as a Met were on the road. In 1999, he appeared twice as an ex-Met/current Buc at Shea (with fans in attendance), the second time most notably when he unleashed the wild pitch that allowed Melvin Mora to score from third in Game 162.

Come to think of it, Guillermo Heredia played three games at Citi Field in front of nobody as a 2020 Met and in front of fans as an ex-Met at Citi Field last month.

Marisnick played seven home games as a 2020 Met. By playing tonight, he may set some sort of ex-Met record for never having heard, at a Mets home game, a single Mets fan cheer directed at him, unless there's pent-up after-the-fact appreciation about to manifest itself.

The most games by a Met who never played a home game is 6, for Travis Blankenhorn. In second place is Jake Hager with 5.

Of players who didn't play in 2021, the leader is Jerry May, with 4 games. 3 each for Chip Ambres, Tony Armas, Emil Brown, Rick Sweet, Todd Haney, and Felix Heredia.

For players who never played a road game as a Met, Ken Henderson is the all-time leader in games played, with 7. Ike Hampton, Kevin Kaczmarski, and Andy Green all have 4, and there are 3 each for Mark Little, Joe Vitko, and Buddy Baumann.

Gary Bennett, joining the club as the bounty for Todd Pratt, enjoyed his one righteous game as a Met in the unfriendly confines of Pro Player Stadium in 2001, before being flipped for a PtBNL (eventually to become Ender Chavez) exactly a month later. He visited Shea as a Rockie the following May, and presumably drank up the appreciation.

Met home games among 2020 Mets who weren't Mets before 2020 and haven't played as Mets at home in 2021:

Andres Gimenez 26

Chasen Shreve 10

Billy Hamilton 9

Jared Hughes 8

Jake Marisnick 7

Robinson Chirinos 6

Rick Porcello 6

Dellin Betances 4

Brian Dozier 4

Guillermo Heredia 3

Hunter Strickland 3

Michael Wacha 3

Eduardo Nunez 2

Erasmo Ramirez 2

Ali Sanchez 2

Ryan Cordell 1

Franklyn Kilome 1

Betances has played for the Mets in 2021, but only on the road (one game, in Philadephia; has begun a rehab stint with St. Lucie). Kilome is at Syracuse. Everybody else has moved on.

Neither Gimenez nor Hamilton is scheduled to play at Citi Field this season. Hughes is retired. Only Chasen Shreve, currently with Pittsburgh, looms as having a chance this season to best Marisnick as most Queens-experienced Silent Generation Met to come back to Citi Field with no idea what it's like to be cheered by Mets fans at home.

I think Pillar just may have set a ML record for most combined distance between bat & ball on three swinging strikes.

I don't think he came within two feet of making contact in any of those pitches.

Arrieta seems to be two steps ahead of batters, and he sure has to be, because I'm not seeing anything in his stuff.
