Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Maybe they should have let Jake try one more inning.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Castro got a stiff neck from twisting it after the homerun.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Had they double-switched, they might have gotten more than two batters out of Loogy.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Important questions as deGrom remains on track for his third Cy Young award: Is he the MVP? Will he end the year hitting .300?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 If the season ended today, of course he's the MVP.But right now, I'm just worried about the gamey game.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 And the right flexor tendonitis.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 None of our pitchers are leaving the field 100% tonight.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Interestingly, both spellings are correct according to the googlegods.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Not Dom's best night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 That's one.Man, Tatis stays far off the plate. You can't come up and in on him.I think Keith has about 15 words left in his throat. Let's get this done.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Sheesh, that fastball was supposed to be high.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Wow.I may give deGrom a PotG point or two tonight.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Harvey and Hosmer in the same week... wins each time. PHEW!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 We caught the 9th inning on XM after driving home from watching the AAA Mets lose 5-3 thanks to shoddy bullpen work.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Too bad. Nogosek had been money all season until tonight.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 4 up on the Phils, 5 up on the Braves. Nice.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Just got back from Citi, where we caught our first live ball in two years, from Section 102, Field Level. (Vaccinated!)It was electric. It was crowd-started two-strike clapping, stranger-high-fiving electric. It was Gooden-in-1985, Pedro-in-2005, Harvey-Day-times-ten electric.Until Jake got pulled. Then it got quiet. Then it got tense, even mildly testy. Chatted up an old usher while waiting to reenter our section following a mid-Castro beer run, and he was all, "I bet Ronnie and Keith are going BONKERS right now." I didn't disagree. Then some skittish moments... and then, man, does the home crowd welcome Diaz these days. All games should start with Jake and end with "Narco"-- preferably while dancing with your amped-up kid (or a borrowed one)-- and silly, silly sliders/absurdly-fast high fastballs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Until Jake got pulled. Then it got quiet. Then it got tense, even mildly testy. Chatted up an old usher while waiting to reenter our section following a mid-Castro beer run, and he was all, "I bet Ronnie and Keith are going BONKERS right now." I didn't disagree.Only Keith, no Ronnie last night ... and not really. The thing was, they could see a dugout discussion with the trainer prior to JdG disappearing into the clubhouse. iow, it wasn't the usual handshakes/pat on the ass/"you're done" kind of transition so they knew, or at least suspected, that something else was up.... and then, man, does the home crowd welcome Diaz these days. All games should start with Jake and end with "Narco"-- preferably while dancing with your amped-up kid (or a borrowed one)-- and silly, silly sliders/absurdly-fast high fastballs.Yeah, lost in all the pre-, during-, and post-game JdG drama, was how efficiently on point Diaz was, and for the most part has been all season.Coming in for a four-out save with just a one-run lead and inheriting maybe the league's fastest runner on 1st (whoops, now he's on 2nd), he closed it out facing (as it turned out) five hitters with a minimum of added angst. And not just any five hitters but 1 thru 5 in a tough lineup including two top stars in Tatis & Machado, plus three more than decent hitters Pham, Croenworth & Hosmer, all of whom qualify (at least in this era) as verytough-to-K guys. Hosmer, in particular, gave him a tough battle by fouling off some bastard pitches. The result was a quite tidy: five guys, four outs, two Ks, 16 pitches, two fair balls. All of which, btw, only partially makes up for what is a truly questionable haircut choice by our closer.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Hosmer was smiling through the whole at-bat. I thought he knew something Diaz and I did not, and I was terrified.
