Good news from Ohio on Nimmo.

This doesn't speak well for the Office Hospital of the New York Mets.

While a plethora of specialists from the Hospital for Special Surgery and elsewhere in the NY area stared at Nimmo's hand, Pillar got hit in the face, Almora and a wall collided, and we had to watch Khalil Lee hit, we needed the diagnosis of [i'll believe this until told otherwise] a small-town Dr. in Ohio whose wife is his nurse and his office is in his barn.

Barnes has been *terrible* all season. No idea how he's lasted this long.

No options. You try to send him down, you'll run the risk of losing him. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, actually.

Yennsy Diaz is Man 27.

Albert Almora looms for the second game today.

Lucchesi to the IL with left elbow inflammation (damn), clearing a spot for Almora.

If the Mets knew that Lucchesi was hurt at 1 PM and not 4 PM then why didn't they activate Almora for the first game so they would have an extra bat? It didn't matter but it could have.

Not a move I readily understand.

Does anybody believe the difference-maker today is going to be having a 14th pitcher available?

I agree. Unless several RPs are not available then why was this done today at the expense of another bench option rather than tomorrow? They could even have waited until Game 2 tomorrow if Eickhoff is the SP for that game.

McNeil indeed activated ahead of Game One. Rojas says they're figuring out grade of Gsellman's strain. No 27th man noted yet.

It seems to me that the 40-man roster was created to support 25-man teams with 21-day disabled list assignments.

Then they had to support 25-man teams with 15-day disabled list assignments. Then they had to support 25-man teams with 10-day disabled list assignments. Then they had to support 25-man teams that expanded to 26 for double-headers, along with 10-day disabled list assignments. Then they had to support 26-man teams that expanded to 26 for double-headers, along with 10-day disabled list assignments.

This inflation seems bonkers to me, but if this is the way it's going to be, they eventually have to expand the 40-man as well.
