Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I came in here to be the #5 guy, or at least, that was my job to defend, but then it became clear Syndergaard wasn't answering the bell, and i was #4 with a bullet. And then we learned Lugo wasn't an option, and I was #3.Number three! Hey, we all agree I have some talent but I had a 7.94 ERA in a mere 5 2/3 innings last year for the Padres. Nobody wants to make too much of a small sample size, but if a guy is your third best starter, you perhaps want a little bit more in the bank.So the wise ones went out and got them some Taijuan Walker. And now I'm the number four guy. And youse can all breathe easier, because I feel comfortable saying my best pitching is still ahead of me.But how much easier can you breathe? How much better can be expected? How better is best? How far ahead? I can tell you how great I am. Like, back in 2019, I had the lowest line drive percentage of all major league pitchers. I can even ask Edgy to show you my greatness with a cleverly edited video. But there are still open questions.Dig my churve and close those questions.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 10-8 4.10 in 33 starts. He gets my nomination as the pitcher who gets deserted by his bullpen this year (the DeGrom Syndrome), depriving him of better win totals and ERA.Later
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I think he gets more of, like, the Trachseloma/Joe Niekritis, where he ends up with more wins than you'd think. 15-7, 4.23 ERA/1.21 WHIP, 9.1 K/9, 2.9 BB/9 in 28 starts.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 He's got an interesting kinda windup. I predict I will like watching him. Results, all I'm asking is a little more consistency than Matz gave us, which is not a lot. So not quite as good on his best days, not nearly as bad on his worst.8-7, 3.60, 22 starts, 132 IP 9/3
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I predict someone on air will call him Joey Chestnut before the season is out.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 So it is. That seems a little unusual.
