Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Typical. They let a rabbit in the big leagues before Black players.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Love the Umpire State Building.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I'm really curious about the defensive shift used by the Gas-House Gorillas at 0:42.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 One of the best cartoons EVER.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I tried to find the entire cartoon -- "Baseball Bugs" -- but no luck. But at least I found the first two minutes or so, missing from the opening post clip, which includes the famous Gas-House Gorillas conga-line around the bases at about 1:37. The stadium's a Polo Grounds knock-off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 28, 2021 Author Posted February 28, 2021 The Polo Grounds had an eastward orientation, so that last-inning shot by the tree-wielding Gashouse Gorilla must've taken a heck of a right turn around the foul pole to end up going downtown toward 34th Street, where I assume the Umpire State Building was located. It's got to be about six or seven miles that Bugs was able to track that shot. And even then it's another five miles to the Statue of Liberty, but that isn't far enough to keep her from butting her nose in on the argument.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 If we start canceling Bugs too, I'm a gonna lose it.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Still trying to find the missing scene where pitcher Bugs says he'll perplex 'em with his slow ball, then throws a slow motion floater and a Gorilla Gas-Houser swings at the pitch three times and misses all three times for one out, then another Gas-Houser does the same and then another -- Bugs Bunny strikes out the side on one pitch.Haven't found it.
