Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Not conceding the division to the Dodgers, that's for sure. Padres' farm is so deep they can pull off a trade like this. They're going to be a fun team to watch next year.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 The Rays... they do have a pattern, don't they?Snell, at 10.5 M for 2021, would have accounted for 16 percent of https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/tampa-bay-rays/payroll/TB's 2021 payroll. (Given their priorities, I'd imagine Kiermeier is probably available for a song; he's still excellent defensively, and he might not be a terrible backup plan, should Springer things fall through and FA money goes elsewhere.)
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 What a get for the Pads. Patiño looks to have the goods, but he isn't even the cream of the Pads farm system, and poor Mejia hasn't shown much at the MLB level at all. I think I might've hoped for a bigger haul for a 28-year old ace on a team-friendly deal.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 My phone (reliable source) just said the Padres are "deep into talks" with Yu Darvish, too!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 The Rays needed to make room on their 40 for the trade haul, so traded LH reliever Jose Alvarado to the Philles in 3-way action with the Dodgers, who get Garrett Cleavinger from the Phils and sent over a minor league infielder and PTBNL to Tampa.Alvarado has been pretty OK.

Maybe the Mets'll join their ranks now that BVW (how pathetic) got the axe and Sandy isn't under Jeff's thumbs anymore. How humiliating that must've been. It's like when the CDC had to answer to that scumbag fraud Ivanka.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Some dude on twitter praising the Padres and throwing a jab at the Mets
