bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 "Due to an abundance of caution", the entire weekend series with the MFYs is canceled. Hopefully, they will be able to play on Monday as both teams have off-days. This means more time for you to 1) talk to your spouse/partner/children; 2) clean; 3) do yard work; 4) watch the NBA; 5) watch the NHL (Islanders!); 6) look out the window and wait for the Mets to return.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 1) 2) 3) because I didn't have enough time already for that? 4) 5) zzzzzz...6) it is.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Do we know yet who the afflicted parties are?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Seems the best kept secret in NY. I haven't really paid attention, have the other teamsbeen keeping the players names confidential?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 It's up to the individuals whether or not they want to make their diagnosis public.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 At the same time, it's almost impossible to keep such stuff secret: 'The Mets have announced that [Fill in Name] will not be available for the upcoming series. The team stresses that there was no injury involved and that he is not on the standard 10-day IL, only that he is likely to miss a "couple of games" before hopefully returning later in the week. Oh yeah, and there will be a temporary 1st base coach for the next few days.'Gee ... I wonder what the problem with those two could be?!?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 So they're all bunking out on the stadium concourse?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I rode my bike by citifield today, tried to do my regular circle around the building but I usually enter off Roosevelt by the 7, today I rode down 126/seaver way and tried to turn in at the right field corner and a security guy rushed from a booth to meet me. "You can't go in there!" Doh
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Now I can spend my Saturday productively - watching the Sharknado movie marathon now running on cable.Later

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Today I biked past the Cyclones stadium, which like Citi is on lockdown, but from the boardwalk could see 2 unidentified outfielders, then there's a spot to view the bullpen. Smushing my face into the fence there was Mazeika, with a big-ass beard, chatting with our own Paul Sewald. Sewald gave me a fist pump when I said "Let's go, Alternative Site Mets!"
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Any word on a game tomorrow?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I'm pretty sure that if they were going to be playing on Monday we would have heard about it by now.On the other hand, it's not like ticket holders have to make plans in advance.
