I like ke the pink

Well if you like pink, then I've got the Batman card just for you. It's a two-fer tonight, for the two Mets that homered in tonight's game. And if one of these cards reminds you of a certain 70's Red Sox reliever with the porn star name, you're not alone. Added Bat-Bonus: the card debut of Batgirl, fittingly, in the 3rd series -- an homage to Batgirl's TV debut in season three of "Batman".

You know, “I Give Up Day 2019” turned into a Batman card thread so gradually, I didn't even notice.

Zvon is alive and well on social media. Dick Grayson says Z was delighted to learn SNY helped itself to a few of his Fantazy card images for a segment on the 1969 NLCS the other night. I'm guessing they were plucked by an intern who didn't realize “BOB MURPHY DOES INTERVIEWS” might not have been issued by Topps, but it was exciting to see.

PS: Simpsons reference above.

She's too torrid for tots and for guys hitting .085. To put it in perspective, that's only 85 points higher than I, a middle-aged guy with glasses and negligible foot speed, would hit against major league pitching.

Here at the Batcave, we take all of our reader mail quite seriously. And thanks to some tips from our avid readers, we've decided to tweak some of our earlier releases. It's Tweaky Tuesday and we've tweaked the lunchbox ad on Brandon Nimmo's card for and Stephen Nogosek's body. Nogosek's sleeve patch now rocks like the Batusi. Plus, as an added attraction, a new release form the 3rd series, now available at a store near you.

It's Readers' Mail week here at the Batcave and we get mail. Lots of it. A loyal follower, Roger Kaputnik, writes the following:

Dear Batman card makers:

I got a Tweaky Tuesday Carlos Gomez in a pack of cards and I was not impressed. What kind of a fiendish scheme are youse running at Typewriter Cards, putting the John Astin Riddler on a Batman Mets card instead of the Frank Gorshin Riddler? Astin was the inferior Riddler. Doesn't your staff know that Gorshin was nominated for an Emmy award for his portrayal of The Riddler on Batman? I'm sendin' back my Gomez. Keep it.

Roger Kaputnik

Dear Roger:

Thank you for your interest in our Batman line of Mets cards. Casey Stengel would've been amazed at these cards had we printed them in 1966, during the Batman craze of that year. But we think you're a bit over concerned. You worry too much and you should never worry. Instead, try and exhibit some of that patience Batman is well known for. Patience has helped Batman escape many jams, including the Riddler's never-ending diabolical plots to end the caped crusader's run as Gotham City's premiere crime fighter. We think your patience will be rewarded. Meanwhile, now is as good a time as ever to explain our guidelines for deciding just who from the Batman TV show universe gets to appear in the "says box" of our Batman Mets cards. Our "says box" guests include every single headlining special guest villain -- every version of every special guest villain. That means all three Mr. Freezes, all of the Catwomen -- especially all of the Catwomen, including the Lee Meriweather Catwoman who never appeared on the TV show but starred in the 1966 Batman movie -- because we believe that one can never get enough Catwomen, and ... wait for it ... patience, Roger ... both Riddlers. That would include the Frank Gorshin Riddler. So as you can now see, your patience will be rewarded. Also appearing in the "says box", will be every recurring character on the Batman TV show, including, obviously the terrific trio of Batman, Robin and Batgirl. We won't, however. include any of the special guest villains' henchmen and henchwomen, underlings and molls, unless they were given a leading or distinctive role in a particular Batman episode. So don't worry and again, thanks for writing. And as a special treat for taking an interest in our Batman Mets cards, we've enclosed a new as yet unreleased furshlugginer Batman card with this letter for you to enjoy. It's a sneak preview just for you. We're also returning your Gomez card, which we're confident you will enjoy more than ever, now that we've clarified some of your concerns. So thanks again and please continue to collect our Batman cards. Collect them all!

The Bat-Staff.

Zack Wheeler gets the makeover treatment on Makeover Monday. We've busied up his card a bit, one of our earlier 1st series releases, now consistent with the 3rd series release and the current trend of our Batman Mets cards. And we've unfuzzied Zack himself a bit so youse can see him better. Check out Zack's new and improved interlocking NY Mets cap logo!

It's also readers' mail week all week long and so, because youse asked for it, youse got it.

Well, if youse are gonna trickle back in here to give up, or at least contemplate giving up -- which is revocable, ya know --- youse can at least enjoy the latest Batman Mets cards while you ponder your dwindling rooting interest. What with Tuesday almost over, we'll squeeze in one more for Tweaky Tuesday before the clock strikes midnight even though we're pretty sure this Jacob Rhame redo really should be released on Makeover Monday. Sigh? Or die?

And here's another Batman69 insert we pulled from a recent 3rd series pack, now available at a store near you.

And because it's still Readers' Mail week, youse asked for it, so youse got it.

Another Tweaky Tuesday means another tweak. Today, Gil Hodges gets the tweak treatment. I never realized until just now that Commissioner Gordon wasn't the only one with a direct red phone hot-line to the Batcave. Apparently Gil and President Nixon also had one. Tricky Dick, I get. Because who knows what national emergency the caped crusader would be needed to solve, especially if one of Gotham's super-villains decided to cross state lines? But what would Gil need one for? He had Tom Seaver.

That sound you just heard was the stopping of the presses that were printing postseason tickets.
