The Mets have played simply awful baseball lately, and yet they're only 4 1/2 games out of first. The slightest glimmer of competence and they could be contending. So I expect they'll tank it against the Giants and Rockies, because that's how they roll.

Did anyone see when Nats mgr Davey Martinez came out to (presumably) remove Scherzer in the middle of an inning and Scherzer started screaming NO!!!! as soon as he stepped out of the dugout?

Impossible to know whether Martinez intended to remove him or not, but Scherzer wound up staying in the game.

Nobody can resist the regression. Starting pitching becomes less of a thing every year. Certainly Mickey can't resist it. It's heartbreaking to me.
