G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Sigh. Dave will depart our tracking exercise now, as 33rd HR in Game 134 kind of kills the mood.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Well, that was the most overmatched three batters the Mets have sent to the plate this season, with all due respect to early-season Travis d'Arnaud.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 THE RECORD MIGHT FALL TODAY. OR FRIDAY. DEFINITELY THIS WEEKEND.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 Alonso surpassed Hundley's pace with his 9th home run. He and Beltran were close until his 14th home run. Only the drought made it a little close recently between Pete and Todd.I think that's over now, but let's get those home runs hit before repainting the apple a bright shade of Polar Bear ivory.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Refresh my memory...was 2006 the year Beltran hurt himself running into the wall in Houston, right around Labor Day? And his power suffered the rest of the year?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I want to see Alonso break the club record for two reasons:1. The Mets club record for homers is very low on the list, ahead of only the Royals, based on a list I found from 2017. (See below.)2. I don't want Todd Hundley and his obviously steroid-enhanced season to continue to be the record holder. I remember how much I wanted Beltran to break that record in 2006.SFG Barry Bonds 73 2001STL Mark McGwire 70 1998CHC Sammy Sosa 66 1998NYY Roger Maris 61 1961DET Hank Greenberg 58 1938OAK Jimmie Foxx 58 1932PHI Ryan Howard 56 2006ARI Luis Gonzalez 57 2001TEX Alex Rodriguez 57 2002SEA Ken Griffey, Jr. 56 1997BOS David Ortiz 54 2006TOR Jose Bautista 54 2010PIT Ralph Kiner 54 1949BAL Chris Davis 53 2013CLE Jim Thome 52 2002CIN George Foster 52 1977ATL Andruw Jones 51 2005MIL Prince Fielder 50 2007SDP Greg Vaughn 50 1998CHW Albert Belle 49 1998MIN Harmon Killebrew 49 1969COL Todd Helton 49 2001LAD Shawn Green 49 2001LAA Troy Glaus 47 2000HOU Jeff Bagwell 47 2000TBR Carlos Pena 46 2007WSN Alfonso Soriano 46 2006FLA Giancarlo Stanton 44 2017NYM Todd Hundley 41 1996KCR Steve Balboni 36 1985
cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 The Royals record is now 38. Mike Moustakas broke Balboni's mark in 2017. Jorge Soler already has 35 for this year's Royals so Moustakas' record is in jeopardy. Also, Marlins record is now 59. Giancarlo Stanton in 2017.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Here's the updated list. I knew that the Mets were low on the list but didn't realize until today that they were in 29th place. Hopefully they'll move up a few notches this season.

GiantsBarry Bonds
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I'm surprised by the Royals being so low. Is Kaufmann that much of a pitchers' park, or did the Royals just not develop any sluggers?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 The first three of those should be asterisked. Also love that Ralph still has the Pirate record all these years later.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Author Posted August 16, 2019 I realize it's a typo, but I really like renaming the St. Louis club the “Cadinals,” for they are truly Cads.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 It wasn't a typo. I just briefly developed a New England accent.
