They get 5 innings out of Font they'll be happy. Good that Noah went 8 strong last night.

Yes, though it kind of stinks that they burned swingy Lugo on a one-inning mop-up. Like, why not Bashlor?

NYM (20‑20) Wilmer Font (RHP, 1-0, 5.50)

WSN (16‑25) Patrick Corbin (LHP, 3-1, 3.20)

I go fairly deep on the Kinks and still somehow never heard this one before. Good stuff.

Damn I thought Davis tied it up there

I did too.

But at least Cano didn't give us any such false hopes.

Font is Comic Sans.

It's like an Italian food festival with this guy-- endless meatballs on plates.

So I'm beginning to think that Wilmer Font is not the answer here.

I'm telling you, Gagnon should be in the rotation right now.

I don't know if he's "the answer," but he's sure earned his shot.

Gagnon has been all Times New Roman since coming in.

All for naught, though, unless we put some runs on these Wingdings.

Hell, he sure hits like one of our starters.

He's been starting in the minors, right?

He's leaving more over the plate this inning. To the meat of the Nat lineup, no less.

Good pitch to get Kendrick out, though.

I like me a quick game now and then but this Cy Corbin dude is redic'.

Well, this was the one game in the series where the pitching matchup was decidedly NOT in our favor.

Would have been nice if we could have kept it a bit more competitive though.

I do like the fact that the Nats feel compelled to go to their closer -- and, really, their one reliable arm out in the pen -- in a four run game in front of a quick turnaround leading into a day game.

Bring it on Doolittle!

Game ended when McNeil didn't score on the Davis double.

Yeah, the bullpen did as much as they could to bail out Font. I put this loss on the offense.

McNeil, as confident as he is at the plate with his goofy bat, seems a little out of his depth on the basepaths, which is funny because he's there often enough.

I feel like I was writing that same statement, more or less, about Daniel Murphy 10 years ago.
