Adeiny Hecharvarria up, Dom Smith down

It's unfair to Smith, but he needs to play every day and the Mets need a backup shortstop. (PS The Fielding Bible has Rosario at -9 runs saved so far this year, which is horrifying. Hechavarria is putting up a .348/.382/.446 line in Syracuse. Don't assume Rosario's leash is long at this point.)

Yeah, I don't think Rosie is in any danger of being sent down, but the very presence of Hechavarria at least gives Mickey the option of sitting him down once a week or more if and when he goes into a funk.

Certainly less tempting to do so with Guillorme as the option.

Did the game start on time? It's 9:00 and still struggling to get to the third.

Brew's pitcher Woodruff needed some 35 pitches just to get thru the top of the 1st which, especially when you consider that he got two outs on just one pitch (strike-out/throw out DP), was a whole lotta pitches for just one run.

Matz, while not nearly as bad, wasn't exactly quick in getting thru his one-run bottom half of the inning.

Things have been scooting along a bit faster since.

The funny part is that Matz has mostly been working fast.

Almost all the hits tonight (13 for both teams combined so far) have either been because of the shift, not out of the infield, or Both.

Has anyone noticed the buxom black-haired woman behind home plate

keeping a score card, or is it just me? I mean, she's marking down balls

and strikes. You don't see front-row people that into a game these days.

Eric Thames (right spelling, wrong pronunciation) joins Johnny Sain (right pronunciation, wrong spelling) and Tim Hudson on baseball's All-River team.
