A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Bob Nightengale, of America's free hotel paper, reports the Mets are hot N heavy for the Rangers Mike Minor. He's pitching well so far (though his FIP and xFIP say it's but a fleeting mirage).Questions:[list=]What to do with our current $9M left-handed 5th starter?[list=]Why not keep prospects and just buy Dallas Keuchel for a year?Discuss.

LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 We sign Keuchel, we also give up a prospect, in the form of a draft pick.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 How long would it take Keuchel to be ready after missing all spring training and the first month? I read he's Ben throwing simulated games every five days, but I don't know if that means he'd be able to step right in.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 As a reliever right? I don't know why you'd let him start, nor why Nightengale thinks he's an ace.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Yeah, I don't get the "ace" label either. Has had a nice WHIP the last few years, but I wouldn't give up anything too valuable. Lugo is better and cheaper.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Nightengale was never very good anyway.I do remember, it was back in.. let's seeSunday June 13th, 2010The Mets were in Baltimore completing a sweep, and the Baltimore radio guys were talking about Pelfrey and describing him as the Mets Ace. This is the season Pelfrey only allowed 2 runs in April somehow, and did end up having a pretty good year, though both Johan Santana and R.A. Dickey were better pitchers.
