Mickey Calloway has no problem bringing in Diaz up 4 runs in the ninth.

But a one run lead in the 8th? Nah.

Here's the way to win if you're complaisant with evil: With everybody wearing the same uniform number, no names on the back, and cowls on their face, the Mets triumph by putting Alonso back in the game but telling everybody it's d'Arnaud.

I *hate* bringing guys in with the bases loaded, especially when those guys are Mets relievers, who can't throw strikes for shit.

At my daughter's first Little League game last week, our nine-year-old pitcher-- an athletic kid, but a first-timer on the mound-- was laboring a bit, and racked up two walks.

His father (something of a "Come ON, Connor" Alpha) was at the fence, and grumbling to the manager a bit. Our manager turns to him, and quietly says, "I don't want the kid to lose heart. Do you want me to take him out?" Alpha Dad says nothing. Manager turns back to the game, and to nobody in particular, says, "Anybody I bring in here is going to walk two guys right after coming in anyway."

I mean, he gets it.

I don't fucking know anymore.

I mean, they've called up Drew Gagnon. They've got Sewald. THEY'VE GOT GODDAMN DIAZ.

Relentless change-ups from a soft-tossing lefty to righties with men in scoring position.

I almost-- ALMOST-- want a hit/loss here, if only so Mickey doesn't learn the wrong lesson here.

Great change, but Avilan is adjusting his grip before he puts the ball in his glove. I knew the change was coming from the centerfield camera, and I imagine the runner on second did.

What a pitch to get out Segura

I don't know what the heck Segura was swinging at, but I'm glad he was swinging!

Now Neshek for an inning or two. Plus, I think they just recalled that Arano kid with the nasty slider from last year.

Extra-inning game or no last night, the Phillies still have more quality length in the bullpen.

Just took a Nimmo foul ball in the face-- Barksdale is a tough old ump.

I mean, he's also kinda terrible at calling balls and strikes. But still... tough.

Great job there Mickey. You burned the last bench player for NO DAMN REASON. The Mets have 10 coaches and the same crap goes on.
