Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 deGrom's leaving it over the plate a little, and he's down a run. Cheech is growing his hair out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 Looks like Alonso can get the low pitch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 And T-Bone gets robbed of a two-run double by Myles Straw, who is clearly a lot faster than he looks.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 deGrom, in a sideline interview, took the time to thank his teammates for all the support last season. All the support.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 Well, this game has been a shower of shit. Thank you for your participation.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 nice 1-man, 4 post IGT - just like the Mets, we're in mid-season form!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I'm hoping as I did yesterday to watch some of this on replay. It starts at 8 on SNY. Beats the Oscars, anyway.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 DeGrom gives up one first-inning run, Mets hardly score, Jake gets saddled with the loss.Hmmm...
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 The Gelbs interview with Jacob is worth watching on repeat or DVR.Except for the usual fun in hearing Gary and Keith be Gary and Keithagain the rest of the game kinda blew buffalo biscuits.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 That Lou Brock graphic made it's first appearance of 2019.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Watched from the bottom of the first from the bottom of the second. A couple of observations:1. Tim Peterson REALLY needs another pitch.2. None of the corner outfielders looked good in the sun, which made Straw's catch that much more impressive.3. And speaking of Straw: I realize he has no power, but 73 walks and 70 steals in the minors last year, a .414 OBP at AA, and he can cover acres in center. The Mets could use him more than JD Davis.4. Tebow did not look like he doesn't belong -- at least at the plate.5. After seeing Hechevarria turn on a fat fastball and hit it about 100 feet tops past the infield, I can see why we got him on a minor league deal.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 who the hell is straw?

vtmet7 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Straw looked pretty good for a guy picked up from a community college baseball team...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 The thing is, he doesn't look like he'd be fast at all. He seems to have the frame and body language of Jon Olerud, and then he kicks it into gear and he's burning up real estate like Mookie Wilson.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 I watched the first few innings. When Tebow dropped that ball in the first inning I was positive, POSITIVE, that someone here would have posted that the ground can't cause a fumble.Disappointed guys. Come on. It's February. Get into playing shape.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 25, 2019 Author Posted February 25, 2019 Yeah, I was thinking of the one knee=two feet rule.In fact, I was thinking that it was possible Tebow lost the ball because he was used to the play being dead and the catch complete as soon as the knee was down.
