Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 So I'm guessing he's soon going to be on the Mets radar.Missed all of 2018 with a heel injury, and was hurt for most of 2017. He's still only 34 years old and was just released outright by Toronto.I'm guessing he ends up someplace where they offer him a regular role.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 No that the Jays have been particularly competent lately, but I can't imagine they would have simply released Tulo if he still had any potential value.

Surely some of them have some value.I'd kick the tires at the right price. Cant be worse than Reyes was and he probably doesnt beat women!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 We already have a guy with bad heels. Pass
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 rumors are that he'll go to Oakland because (1) he's from Bay area, (2) is already getting paid by Toronto, so Oak would only have to pay the minimum, and (3) they're a good team that needs a 2bman, which he apparently has already expressed a willingness to be.

The roster/lineup spot may just have had more value. If they're not anticipating contending this year, and they've got Dante Bichette's kid waiting in the wings, Rosario-like, for 2020-21... maybe evaluating Lourdes Gurriel is worth more to them than holding on to Tulo as a potential midseason trade chip, say.Gotta say, though... to me, Tulo has the weird whiff of somebody from whom the Yankees squeeze a crazy, fan-favorite-dead-cat-bounce season.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 ... and hits right handed, so he could platoon with Guillorme for a year or so (until Gimenez or Mercurio is ready) if Rosario must be included in a deal for something major.Just a thought. Later

They'd sign him, and he'd wind up getting 400 AB next year and hitting 26 home runs over there. We'd sign him, and he'd hit .180 and wind up on the DL by May.
