Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Ah yes, the pre-August 31st deadline. Y'know, like the one that sent Verlander to the Astros last year.Well, in addition to the Jose Bautista to the Phils move, the Braves counter by saying we'll see your ex-Met and raise you by a Lucas Duda
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Also a Brave as of today: Rene Rivera, for the second consecutive year a contender's waiver pickup.

I forgot the cash coming back from the Phillies in the Bautista deal. Yeah. they could afford him. Now let's see it happen.(S/M = 93.7)Later
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Andrew McCutchen MFY, for two prospects.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 The Nats remade their bullpen at the beginning of the year in anticipation of post-season need, but have now almost completely UN-made it as Ryan Madson goes to the Dodgers. Madson follows Brad Kintzler, Shawn Kelley, and AJ Cole, out the door. Also, former NYM prospect Drew Butera from the Royals to the Rockies

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Conveniently, the Brewers are visiting the D of C this weekend. Not so fast with that right hand turn, Gio. Your clubhouse is to the left. The Nats are going to be a very different team next season. Murphy, Gio, most of the bullpen already gone; Harper, Weiters, and Jeremy Hellickson are FAs

Its a step in the right direction. But if they were going to trade Gonzales, I was hoping it would be to the American League. Or better yet - a team on the far side of the moon.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2018 Author Posted September 1, 2018 2015 AL MVP Josh Donaldson goes from Toronto to ClevelandInjuries have limited him to just 137 ABs this year and none since late May - although he was just rehabbing this week so perhaps he's ready to contribute ... I dunno, something. And if he's the guy that beats the Yanx in the post-season than that's even better.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 It's always good when the Wilpons get some money. That's what this is all about, right?[tweet:3p10kosf]https://twitter.com/MLBRosterMoves/status/1037818507050844160[/tweet:3p10kosf]
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Pretty good numbers at AAA, but he was 28 years old..314/.372/.588. OPS of .959 20 HR's. Why would we just give up on a guy like that? http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=623182#/career/R/hitting/2018/ALL
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Kivlehan goes from "it's so boring at home" to the majors:[tweet:2scf1zip] [/tweet:2scf1zip]
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 1. Kivlehan will be a minor league free agent after the season, so they were going to lose him anyway.2. He's a first baseman/corner outfielder. First base is already a logjam without him, and the Mets have plenty of corner outfielders, so he's blocked.3. He has played third base, but he's blocked there by Frazier and others.4. His record in the majors is underwhelming (.695 OPS). His record at Las Vegas is suspect. So the team gave him a chance to play on a MLB roster, get some service time, and possibly pick up some playoff money even if he's ineligible for the postseason.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Thank you for the information, RealityChuck. I wonder how much cash was involved given the fact that the Mets would lose him anyway and hadn't called him up for September. $50,000? $1? I have no idea but as long as the Wilpons made a few bucks it's good for everyone. #teamsterlingequities
