G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Sunny skies in midafternoon, chance of rain increases after eight. Jake on the hill, opposing lefty Joey Lucchesi (a switch from Eric Lauer, who will go Tuesday) not to mention all the forces working against his immense talents. We assume we have no Cespedes still, but who knows with this bunch of bananaheads?

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 It's not Jose's fault. But somehow he has gone from being a beloved home-grown Met, to the symbol of how fucked up the decision making process is in the Mets organization. It's just shocking. Meanwhile Dom Smith and Jeff McNeil waste away in AAA.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 There's ZERO logic to Flores 1B/Reyes 3B over Flores-McNeil 3B/Smith 1B. Zero.

Zero.My guess is they're clinging to the idea that if Reyes gets hot for a few weeks they could swing him for _something_.and I think they're mad at Smith for only walking once in like a month.so maybe like..0.5% logic? I guess they played Smith in the outfield in Vegas last night. Getting some instruction hopefully, not that there's any room for him out there in the majors anyway..
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 If he hits, there's plenty of room for him somewhere.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 That conceding-the-stolen-base-with-a-runner-on-third thing is so Babe Ruth League.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Swinging at the first pitch, Jake. That was silly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Oh, screw the call to the replay room.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Amazing how this team manages to synch-up the pitcher mistakes with fielder errors so as to create opposition runs.Spread those outs and it would still be a shutout, but we can't seem to operate that way.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Not only has this game gone to the dogs, but it's ground to a halt as well. One hour for the first four innings, now closing in on an hour trying to get thru the next two.Bases loaded for Reyes, a guy voted in his HS yearbook as the boy most likely to pop up.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 This would be a good time for Reyes to show up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 A swinging bunt works.Fortunately they got him chasing up on the first pitch and didn't pitch him up again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 This reminds of the deep end of Anthony Young's losing streak, when the Mets were determined to pitch him deep into every game, not wanting to take him out while he was on the hook.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Fuck to the yes.Now let's get this game back.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 That uncaught pop-up brought to you by the Go Ahead and Bunt Society.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I’m with Edgy. Down 1, leading off against that shift how the hell do you not at least try to lay a bunt down?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 The Pads have out-fundied the Mets all night and Hosmer pulls an it-gets-by-Buckner.Gots to take advantage.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I mean, if Ty Kelly can’t bunt, what’s he doing here?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 yeah that was disappointing
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Thanks to Mickeys curious lineup we get an all-too-predictable whiff from Rosario instead of some Nimmo magic.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 put in the book of stupidity
