nah, give it to him. deGrom's as good a bet as you can make probably.

You look at these gifs and it's not the velocity or even the movement so much as how utterly similar everything looks until the last moment when you actually have to hit it. I feel like that's probably the most sustainable skill of a pitcher? It looks like he's good at the changing speeds within a pitch thing too. The Bartolo Colon method perhaps? His release point plot is a tiny tiny thing too.

you don't give a pitcher who turns 30 today (Happy Birthday, Jake!), whose under team control through 2021, a 7-year deal. I love him too, but no...just no.

On a decent team he'd have twelve wins. Take out the one-inning game, the four-inning game, and the four runs in six innings game in Miami in April, and his ERA is 1.28 in his other twelve starts.
