Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 nah, give it to him. deGrom's as good a bet as you can make probably. You look at these gifs and it's not the velocity or even the movement so much as how utterly similar everything looks until the last moment when you actually have to hit it. I feel like that's probably the most sustainable skill of a pitcher? It looks like he's good at the changing speeds within a pitch thing too. The Bartolo Colon method perhaps? His release point plot is a tiny tiny thing too.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 (edited) you don't give a pitcher who turns 30 today (Happy Birthday, Jake!), whose under team control through 2021, a 7-year deal. I love him too, but no...just no. Edited June 19, 2018 by Guest

It's a shame to see him pitch so well and have it wasted most times. On a decent team he'd have 10 wins by now.On a decent team he'd have twelve wins. Take out the one-inning game, the four-inning game, and the four runs in six innings game in Miami in April, and his ERA is 1.28 in his other twelve starts.
