Cabrera may be hitting well, but his base running has been awful.

Well, I think he didn't want to make another out at third and
it bit him in the ass...

Well, whatever happens tomorrow, I think the Braves have shown the Nats aren't the only competition for the division.

They probably don't have enough depth for the long haul, but I think they're for real.

They haven't brought up anywhere near all their depth to the majors; the most talented player on their 40-man-- OF Ronnie Acuna-- is being held down at AAA for salary-control reasons. They've also got a couple of potential mid-to-late season impact starting arms there in Gohara, Soroka, and Allard. Even if the Cards-y grit they're getting out of the Preston Tuckers and Flahertys doesn't last... the Braves could be very, very real.

My Gamecast says his double was the last play of that inning. I assume he tried to stretch to a triple?

He was on his way to 3rd and had second thoughts, slid to a stop between the bases, then turned back and was tagged out. It was all very curious. Looked as though he didn't intend to hit the ground as a changed directions and that slowed him up. Also seemed like if he kept running to 3rd they'd have had little chance to stop him

That's funny. It's crazy how much I love Gsellman the reliever.

Almost as much as I hated Gsellman the starter.

The Mets played like crap all night. If they can win games where they play that bad, it's going to be a fun season.

Now let's go out and win 8-1.

It clearly looked to me that he got a stop signal from Sherlock. No angle that I saw showed Sherlock but Asdrubal saw something before using a slide nearly half way to 3rd to stop himself in order
to get back.
Not the greatest night of 3rd base coaching ever (several other incidents mentioned earlier in the IGT). Making the 3rd out at 3rd base wouldn't have been the worst move ever in this case and, like
Edgy says, I don't think there's even a throw (IIRC, the Braves botched the relay anyway). Just seemed like an odd time for Sherlock to get conservative considering how aggressive he's been otherwise.
