Wilmer is a thrown-out-at-3rd away from being thrown out for the cycle tonight.
- he grounded out in his first AB (out at 1st), was tossed trying to stretch into a double in the 4th (2nd), and later tagged out trying to score on Bruce's bloop (home plate)

Meant to post this for the stretch but got distracted, maybe it will bring
some late-game tie-breaking luck...

That play where the catcher threw the ball to second, and the fielder tags the runner ... what's that play called?

It keeps happening. There has to be a word for it.

A rare pitchout helped to make that possible. Still, a good throw by Nido.

Cabrera missing the tag on the Cespedes throw hurt. That's the difference right now. Otherwise it's still 3-2.

Yup. Wilmer getting thrown out at 2nd when the ball caromed directly to Markakis in RF and then Markakis NOT being thrown out two innings later despite the shown beating him.

If I have my facts straight, two of the three CS for the Mets this entire season have come in the last four batters.

The 3rd one must have been a pickoff then, because the two by Nido were the first two times in 2018 that a Mets catcher gunned down a runner, as per Gary & Ron.

I saw stat a few days ago about opponents being 21 of 22 (or something similar) vs the Mets so I was going off of that, but I don't remember the circumstances of that one so, yeah, it was probably something other than catcher-to-second.

Blevins picked off a runner to end an inning earlier this year.

Cespedes strikes out for the 4th time tonight and the 34th time this season. He has now struck out 34 times in 76 at bats. He is now lost on the interstate.
