Verlander countering with a 1-hit/1-walk 5 innings of his own, but that one hit was a solo HR

Oh yeah, and ESPN half-missed that HR (the only hit of the game so far) because they were busy running one of their pre-taped segments.
Eh, that's all right, you don't tune in to watch a baseball game anyway, you tune in to watch ESPN and to see ESPN people do ESPN things and cross-promote other ESPN projects.

Big Bart = perfect thru 6

Friggin awesome. Missed nearly all of today's Mets game as we're on vacation in FL, so, I am having a glass of vino and enjoying some Barto tonight.

My enthusiasm for this waned when I turned it on and remembered I would need to listen to Arod.

Oh well, lets go Bartolo!

SEVEN (on about 80 pitches)

Wonder if his manager will pull him? After all, you don't want to push him and possibly shorten his career!

Is it Don Mattingly?

The D-Backs' Deven Marrero also gave us a Tim McCarver specialty yesterday, losing a homer after passing a teammate on the bases.

7 perfect innings. Against possibly the best team in baseball, the Astros. On national TV.

Give it up for Bartolo.

not just the best team in baseball, last year, with basically the same guys, they were one of the best offenses _ever_

And just to show what good pitching can do:

- Rangers 3 - Astros 1
4 runs total on 8 combined hits over 10 full innings in a nationally televised game (ie. longer commercials): Game time = 3:06

- Mets 3 - Brewers 2
5 total runs on 11 hits across 9 not quite full innings (due to the 2-out walk-off): Game time = 3:28

Bart threw 96 pitches over 7.2 innings, Verlander 100 over 8 full
Contrast to Chacin's 85 over just 4 innings (plus he was slow as shit anyway) and Syndergaard's 101 over 5.1
