Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I nearly played my way off the team in the first third of last season, and while I didn't quite recover enough to "save" my season, I ended up outlasting the field and posting the most plate appearances on the team. I led the team in stolen bases with 24 also. Second most was Lagares and Rosario with seven apiece. A man has to have his pride, you know. And it's that pride that brings me back. Will I be a feast-or-famine player again? Will I be the positive role model for Amed Rosario that the Mets hope I'll be? Will I get comfortable in the outfield? Will I end up out-plate-tripping a bunch of starters again. I'm José Reyes, and I'm only 286 off the all-time Mets lead in base hits. I've got business to attend to.[fimg=260:2klj6ln9]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.3481563.1504922991!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_750/metsgameweb9s-web.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=135:2klj6ln9]https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/files/old/6a00d834515b9a69e20162fd5d3283970d-pi.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=305:2klj6ln9]http://mets.locals.baseballprospectus.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2016/09/USATSI_9538377.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=311:2klj6ln9]https://content.sny.tv/assets/images/7/3/0/220725730/cuts/USATSI_9520523_47k6b4gk_8p0fex8u.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=131:2klj6ln9]https://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/d65c86e0b8e69800aeea8009f193dd56d3c52256/c=15-0-783-1024&r=537&c=0-0-534-712/local/-/media/2017/05/21/Bergen/NorthJersey/636309219129447960-AX186-0178-9.JPG[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=258:2klj6ln9]https://d3d2maoophos6y.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/24211857/25517042824_Mets_at_Nationals.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=281:2klj6ln9]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.3163634.1494737886!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_750/reyesweb14s-web.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=120:2klj6ln9]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.464438.1314617005!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_750/amd-reyes-fields-jpg.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9] [fimg=299:2klj6ln9]https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--S3m9nbHo--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/n38ash8kimrixgzykkxz.jpg[/fimg:2klj6ln9]Remember, no matter how you think my 2018 will be, a mà nadie me daba ninguna bola cuando andaba en pie.Nadie.[youtube:2klj6ln9]OGWay-sZwcM[/youtube:2klj6ln9]
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I keep avoiding these "expectations" threads. I keep thinking, "I'll get to that eventually". And now there's only a couple of days left and then expectations turn into realities. You guys know me though. You can assume that I would expect the best from all players donning the blue and orange. And, BTW, Reyes will do great things in 2018!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 The less he plays, the better it will mean for our season.I fear he'll play a good amount.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 80 games, 160PA. 15 SB. .260/.320/.400 in an odd twist, he's cut in August for David Wright.

Jose will hit an inside the park home run this year, that's my expectation

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Assuming he's released..A) Mets would be on the hook for his salary. Do you think another team would claim him?or Is there another role in the organization for him, like what the Mariners did for Ichiro? The team could then do something special, such as add him to the Mets Hall of Fame. Not saying retire his number, but he's certainly worthy of the team Hall. Edited June 7, 2018 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 The Mets are on the hook for only $2 million with Reyes, of which 1/3 is already spent, for sub-replacement-player return, so I don't see that being much of an issue.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I feel pretty certain that Jose's days as a Mets player are numbered. And I'm not basing my opinion on anything I've read.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I'm telling you guys, they're waiting for David Wright to replace him. It's a weird Met thing.Ceetar deserves credit for this great idea but I'm acting like it's mine.
