Guest 41Forever Guests Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Love the promise of an Opening Day victory, and a “brilliant” Thor. I love how a “In the Big Inning” headline works for Opening Day, as in the beginning of the season. Sure, things went off the rails quickly. A disappointing season to be sure, but it had some nice moments. This was one of them. I’ll go for celebration and joy every time. And it keeps Maja upbeat through the season.Nice job with the whole contest! Got us through January!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Opening day, when there was so much hope, and a nice win.Thor going down was the critical turning point of the season and we all kind of knew it right then. It was by far the most important event of the year, but I hated it.I will therefore live in my LaLaLand of Hope.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 I voted GOD OF BLUNDER.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Putting aside the ADDED DRAMA of a Christianity vs. Paganism matchup in the finals, I went for BLUNDER too. It's the whole season in three words!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Tough choice, pretty sure I voted for both throughout the journey here.Went with Blunder.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 This was an easy one for me. I voted positive.*tears up this years vacation plans into tini tiny pieces.Thor is a good rep for the season we had, though. I guess it was a good thing I missed allAdat.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Of the two, it's "GOB" over the bloated alternative but neither is as good as a Yoenis cover.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Though it was ridiculous that Thor refused the MRI, what he tore in the 23-5 game wasn't what was bothering him when they wanted the MRI and wouldn't have necessarily shown up, throwing the clever headline into dubious territory. In The Big Inning is a sharp pun, albeit on a busy page. I went back to the beginning with this vote.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 If the lobby at the headquarters has a blue and orange dog in it, I'll consider sticking with my original vacation plans.* Z starts picking the pieces of his plan out of his blue and orange garbage can.*
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 Voting is currently tied!Is there anyone who hasn't yet voted who cares to break this tie?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Maja grows impatient at our foolish American indecisiveness.

This is so exciting!I'm serious, lol. *scotch taping vacation plans back together.OE: 12 votes!?! WTF? We could have a ways to go. Allow Bats in on a 1 day pass.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 So what are you saying? That you'll go to Stockholm, but only if the Post cover wins? Either way, the 1980s sitcom celebrity will be at the ceremony, and we're still working on convincing Maja to attend. And we have a lead on a famous Hollywood ghost, but nothing has been finalized yet on that front.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 STILL tied!Surely there are more than 12 votes out there! Anybody???
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 Actually, it's more like "tie re-established"! IN THE BEGINNING moved to a 7-6 lead earlier today, but now we're back to a 7-7 tie. This is... unprecedented!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Tie breaker is margin of victory in earlier rounds?

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 No, we'll have a special "weighted" tiebreaker poll, and if that ends in a tie, we'll have co-winners, like Willie Stargell and Keith Hernandez in 1979.

dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I went with God of Blunder because In The Big Inning, while clever, was on a page that is just too busy
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 TIE BROKEN! Gah!I expect two more votes.......please. 17 has been the max, right?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 We are at 17 now. Any last minute voter?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 We got 17! Yay!. GoB will win. Boooo!Dog.Blue and orange.
