I support him now based on peak alone, however I think it'll be hard to deny him if he makes it to 2,000 innings. His career so far is roughly equivalent to Sandy Koufax's six-year run from 1961 to 1966: DeGrom: 1635 IP Koufax: 1632 IP DeGrom: 1248 H Koufax: 1171 H DeGrom: 2.63 ERA Koufax: 2.19 ERA DeGrom: 1966 K Koufax: 1713 K DeGrom: 148 ERA+ Koufax: 156 ERA+ DeGrom: 0.986 WHIP Koufax: 0.970 WHIP Etc. etc. So deGrom for his career has done about what mostly got Koufax in, which was that stretch. Now if deGrom can get a few more years in where he just pads his counting numbers -- he's already almost to 2,000 Ks and should be there by the end of the year -- then he'll look that much better. For peak cases, even historically, wins weren't the be-all-end-all. Dizzy Dean, Lefty Gomez, Rube Waddell, Ed Walsh etc. all got in with less than 200 wins, back when 200 wins was more common. DeGrom probably has two more years with Texas after this. Assume 150 innings each season and that should get him to 2,000 IP for his career, and assume a good amount of Ks and that should get him near or past Koufax's career total of about 2,400.

Luis Robert: Robert (back) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Well, he went from averaging about 2 Ks per frame at Double-A, to 3 per frame at Triple-A. So following that rate of increase, he should average about 4 Ks per frame when he gets to the majors.

Roger Cador was an outfielder who spent five seasons in the Atlanta Braves' minor league system from 1973 to 1977, reaching Triple-A before transitioning into coaching. He returned to his alma mater, Southern University, where he built one of the most successful programs in HBCU baseball history, winning 14 SWAC championships, earning numerous Coach of the Year honors, guiding the Jaguars to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, and becoming the first coach from a historically Black university to win an NCAA Division I Tournament game. Inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022, Cador also helped develop future major leaguers such as Rickie Weeks, Fred Lewis, José De León, Dewon Day, and Trenidad Hubbard. He died in June 2026 at the age of 74.

It doesn't make sense for Cohen to keep Stearns around. Why get rid of the field manager but not the GM? Mendoza worked with what he was given. But Stearns gave him the team to work with in the first place. Stearns built this monstrosity; if anyone is most culpable, it's him. It's like a failing company getting rid of a floor manager when they should be focusing on the higher ups that are making the major decisions that drove the company to bankruptcy in the first place. Doesn't make sense.

Well, I mean, it wasn't just Helsley. It was ... Mullins Soto Helsley So 3/4 of the names he brought aboard to bolster the team sucked. And going back, recall he also traded Eric Orze for Jose Siri to help "bolster the team," and look what Siri did for NY. And what he gave up for all those players currently are or have been productive since leaving. So not only is he bad at judging which 'talent' to bring aboard, he's bad at judging which talent to part with. And you're seeing it in 2026, as well. Peralta has underwhelmed. Bichette is improving but by every metric still pretty darn mediocre based on his past performance.
