Bo Bichette: Dealing with sore legs, ankle. Interim manager Andy Green said Saturday that Bichette is dealing with soreness in his legs and his right ankle, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Bichette's soreness helps to explain why he has been left out of the starting lineup since the Mets began their series against Boston. Green noted that Bichette is available off the bench, but the 28-year-old infielder may also sit out Sunday's game to give him more time to fully "reset" ahead of the second half. If that ends up being the case, Zack Short would be likely to pick up another start in the infield. Injury Leg. Day-to-day. Clay Holmes: Throwing live batting practice. Holmes (fibula) threw a live batting practice session Friday at Citi Field, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. It's the first time Holmes has faced hitters since he suffered a fractured right fibula back in mid-May. The right-hander could begin a rehab assignment shortly after the All-Star break. Mark Vientos: The Mets placed Vientos on the 10-day injured list Friday with a fractured right hand. Vientos suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Royals when he was hit by a Michael Wacha pitch. With all these games only available on radio lately, I'm starting to like listening to the radio guys more than Gary, Keith and Ron. It's mostly Gary I'm not a huge fan of.

Sonny Gray got ripped off not being named to the All-Star team.

The team is showing marked improvement offensively. In July, they're hitting .283/.359/.473. Since June 1, they're hitting .245/.318/.424. That doesn't sound like much, but through the end of May, they were hitting .229/.295/.359. I'm cautiously bullish on this team right now.

Every time I think Young is starting to slip, he does something impressive.

It's gotten to the point if the Mets can rebound and even be a .500 team this year, I'll be satisfied. That was my marker for 2024 and I'm getting to that point in 2026.

Dan Hammer is now a phantom major leaguer. They've had a few of those in recent years. Dylan Ross was one last year and Connor Grey was one in 2022.

Mets interim manager Andy Green said Thursday that Vientos has been diagnosed with a fractured right hand and will be placed on the 10-day injured list, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. Vientos was struck by a 92-mph sinker thrown by Michael Wacha in the second inning of Thursday's game versus the Royals, and imaging revealed the unfortunate news. Vientos will likely be sidelined until sometime in August, though the Mets have yet to divulge a timeline for the infielder.
