  1. Doesn't bother me. Pre-smoking ban I used to enjoy having a stogie or two during a game but even then I would make sure I moved to the very back row of the Mezz where the smoke would drift out behind me. I'd never light up right in the middle of a section filled with people. I would still enjoy that if allowed, but no biggie.
  2. Likes to wear his hair 'Pin-Head' style.
  3. Loved this movie. Saw it when it came out back in '91. Immediately bought the soundtrack and I still listen to it often.
  4. Saw this Saturday night. Excellent movie, Day-Lewis absolutely earned his Oscar. The guy is amazing. For a 2 & 1/2 hour movie there is maybe one or two scenes that drag. But that's a minor complaint. To watch this character evolve from a driven, ruthless intelliegent businessman into what he does eventually become is riveting. The acting is great, the cinematography is great. Just a top-notch movie. Go see it. Just make sure the theatre you see it in has comfortable seats.
  5. You are so right and I am wrong. I guess the present-day spin on it confoosed me.
  6. I'm certain that I used to know Ironman's origin when I was younger but the fact that he was never my favorite character combined with my advancing age have muddled that memory. That being said, the origin shown in this preview of the movie is completely different. I remember Tony Stark as a humanitarian Industrialist. Playboy sure but one with a social conscience. His creating the Ironman suit had a great deal to do with a degenerative heart condition and I recall that the suit was sort of like a superpowered iron lung. Robert Downey Jrs. Stark seems to be quite the badass motherfucker that builds Ironman as a way to escape terrorists and then probably fuck their shit up. The trailer does look pretty good though.

    Number Me

That'd be 3 for the Holy Trinity, no? Steve McQueen.
  8. ="Frayed Knot"]]Beltran -- what's bothering him now? Hammies? Knees actually. Had both his patella tendons done over the winter, supposedly to help things in the long run. I think the mole's still around though. It has a name you know. Enrique.

  11. Yeah - I never really got the whole Napoleon Dyn-o-mite thing. Kinda like the lovely horse that went over my head too.
  12. Gosh - do half the people on this board even know who Richard Thomas is (was)? When The Waltons was at its height of popularity, my parents went out to dinner one night and returned home with a menu upon which Richard Thomas had affixed his autograph. They were thrilled to have met the then well-known TV star and my sister and I thought it was just the coolest. RE: ESPN Zone - Would love to, but stag time on weekends just ain't in the family plan for the past 11 and next 6-7 years. I do plan to be at that 5/31 game if that's still the plan.
  13. Yeah well Santana Banana takes the mound tomorrow at 1:00 (so SNY keeps telling me) so that losing streak is ovah!
  14. This is the case of a good movie getting continuous good feedback that just snowballed. By the time people actually get around to seeing it, they expect so much more from it. Its a really good, entertaining little flick - but thats all it is.
  15. $0.50 a book? How come we didn't get offered that price? Cheap bastage.

Now all we have to do is get the Colorado Rockies to change their name to the Denver Bears and we're all set. On edit: Doh. I should probably read the previous posts before I start hammering away on my keyboard.

  18. Fine, I'm a douchebag.
  19. - I agree, great cover. - I also think that if this were any of the past 8 or so years, Johan would be wearing a black jersey. Mebbe Lunchables is right and the Mets are signaling a de-emphasis on the black.

  21. ="AG/DC"]Well, I was kind of joking. Oh. Sorry. I was a bit confused. That wasn't really your typical logic there.
  22. ="AG/DC"]I like Willets idea. What do you say, Yankees? Are you yella? Keep in mind, the Yanks have played seven seasons since and have come up short every damn time. So Willets has a Point. And the Mets have come up even shorter than than the Yankees. At least they've won a coupla pennants. As to Steve's 'Metlennium' - it's more like a Red Sox-ennium so far.
  23. Willets Point wrote: ...and you play that World Series ten times I wager the Mets would win it 7 times I have no idea how you can say that a team that lost a 7 game series to another team 4 games to 1 would beat that same team 70% of the time if they played it 10 more times. The Mets won only 1 game. Not 3, not even 2. One. The Mets were not the better team, not nearly.
  24. Right - but my point is that it alone didn't determine the outcome. The play of the team was such that they put themselves in a position to either take advantage of or be hurt by that play. It looks like that is the penultimate play of the game but really it was just one of many.
