  2. I get that you guys don't want to take him up on his offer. I do not get why you need to insult him.
  3. Luis García is an under-the-radar signing who can be really helpful. Signed to a one-year, $1.75 million contract, which includes $1.25 million in potential incentives. He's going to be 39 and still hits 96 mph sinker.
  4. I'm among the folks who were posting that people had passed without adding memories or context. I misunderstood the intent there, and apologize. I'll do better! Batmags was beyond toxic. He didn't just post offensive things, he targeted certain members with the purpose of attacking them and driving them away. No one wants to be part of a baseball forum filled with hate speech, bigotry, and misogyny. There were many times when I wanted to post something, but didn't want to endure the two weeks -- or more -- of attacks that I knew would be coming. I come here for fun and community, and that creates neither. I applaud Edgy for taking the steps he did. I'm disappointed in the people who left because he took those steps, but also recognize they were never the frequent targets of Batmags attacks. They might have felt otherwise if they were. I wish they would return. If the powers-that-be want to take these steps with Brock, I will happily give the new forum a try. It's their call, not mine. If the powers wish to keep things as they are, and need help with the finances or moderation, I'm happy to assist. Let me know how. I really appreciate this community, especially as an out-of-town Mets fan. It's been a constant in my life for more than a decade, probably closer to two decades. It's one of the first sites I check each morning, and I peek in throughout the day as a little escape. I love the quirky annual threads, like the Players of the Month with the amazing replica cards. I appreciate the folks who have kept it going. Just my 2 cents, or more.

  13. I took my wife to a game at Great American during Suarez's first stint with the Reds, and snagged some sweet seats in the second row, behind third. My wife sent me to get her a drink, and apparently when I was gone there was a pop foul near the stands and Suarez jumped to get it -- this was before the nets -- practically fell on top of my wife. She always tells me that my one job at a ballgame is to protect her from foul balls. She says I failed, but Suarez did it for me. I noted that Suarez did not bring her a fancy raspberry margarita in a collectible stadium cup, but I did.
  14. I heard once that the team wanted to be known as the Twin City Twins and had the uniforms and everything ready to go, and then MLB decided that not using a city or state name was too radical and made them change to Minnesota Twins. But they kept the caps. I love the Twins ballpark.

  17. A change of scenery could help him. He can be down the lineup in a less-pressure spot.
  18. Was nice to see Wright pick up votes. I don't think he'll ever get voted in, but it's nice that he can remain on the ballot and be part of the conversation each year.

  21. Assuming they bring in an ace, like Valdez or Peralta, that's still getting to be a crowded rotation. Scherzer or Verlander, to me, would be taking the place of an end-of-the-rotation guy. I'm sure Sproat or Scott or Tong would go in a trade if that's how we get an ace. Not sure what they can do with Senga. But it's still getting crowded there!   22. With Bregman heading to the Cubs and the Red Sox needing an infielder, I wonder of the Mets can create a package around some of the infield depth and prospects to pry Jarren Duran?
