  1. I've been to two races at Michigan International Raceway. My employer at the time was the title sponsor, so we had an indoor suite. That is the only way to attend one of those. But it was possibly the most fan-friendly event ever. We got to walk on the track and sign the finish line - not sure of that is an MIS thing, or they all do that - wander around the pits, wander around the crew trucks and area. As the sponsors, we got to be part of the trophy presentation on the infield. There was an outdoor viewing area on the roof of the suite. That was the loudest thing I've ever experienced. I like it when MLD does out-of-the-box things like this.
  2. The Braves caps with the flames are funny. Perfect for this location.
  3. Sproat and McLean both had some of their best games of the season with Alvarez calling the games behind the dish.
  4. I'm sure Billy Eppler and Brodie are still available if you'd rather have them. I give Stearns the benefit of the doubt.
  5. Friday night is Drone show night (looks pretty cool!) and Saturday is Pirate Parrot shirt giveaway! Sweet! I have tickets to both games. I'm bringing my wife, her first time to PNC.
  6. That's a great story, Edgy!
  7. I love that ballpark! Headed there late June to see the Mets!
  8. In fact, he does! Peter announced he has a new rock album coming out this year. His last offering was a Great American Songbook kind of thing that was not well received.
  9. Peter Criss, the original Kiss drummer, was spotted at The Mets game earlier in the week, according to a Facebook post. Rock N Roll Experience WWW.FACEBOOK.COM From the KISSFaq board: Peter Criss was spotted at The Mets game last night! It's nice to see Criss out and enjoying life.
  10. Looks like Minter is gone for the rest of the season, or close to it. https://nypost.com/2025/04/29/sports/aj-minter-might-need-season-ending-surgery-in-brutal-mets-injury-blow/
  11. The least classy fans in MLB. Yankees fans chant ‘f–k Juan Soto’ out of nowhere with anger growing for Mets’ $765 million slugger https://nypost.com/2025/04/04/sports/yankees-fans-chant-f-k-juan-soto-with-anger-growing-for-mets-slugger/
  12. You guys are harsh. This looks kind of fun. A lot of teams are doing this. Just in the games I went to last year, the Diamondbacks and White Sox had racers like former players, the Tigers have cars, the Pirates had perogies. Keep in mind, the demographic posting here is not the intended audience. The old guys like me who still buy a program and keep score will barely look up when this is going on. They're aiming at the kids. As far as the "small town hokey crap" and "This is New York" stuff, dude, we had Grimace hailed as a hero last season. The racing presidents thing in Washington is brilliant. It was cool to see them roaming around before the game. I posed with TR.
  13. Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz was on the "Meet at the Apple" podcast last week, and he's a huge Mets fan!
  14. I am an optimist! I give Stearns the benefit of the doubt on the pitching. A healthy Senga will make a big difference. If there is a problem, the team has the money and prospect capital to fill it at the deadline or before. That top of the order -- Lindor, Soto, and Pete -- are going to mash! 1. What will the Mets' record be? 95-67 2. Predict the NL East standings from 1 to 5: Mets, Braves, Phillies, Nationals, Marlins. 3. Will the Mets make the playoffs (if so, as the division champ or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd WC)? As division champ. 4. If so, how far will they go? World Series! 5. Who will be the World Champion? Your New York Mets! 6. Number of regular season HRs for Pete Alonso: 42 7. Who will be on the cover of the 2025 winner of the Tabloid Cover Derby? Francisco Lindor.
  15. Newsday has an interesting feature about pitcher Justin Hagenman, a career minor-leaguer who got a major league contract. Suggests he might be our dark horse Met of 2025! https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/justin-hagenman-contract-czd16d4s#utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Sports&lctg=89258afa08eb13c55f00f8886c35c341f77db8ea52a6c8e23da8317e16e81aa7&utm_term=sub
  16. Buster Olney today was making it sound like this is definitely headed to TJ and that Cole will miss all of this year and the start of next season. Likely won't see him until the All-Star Game in 2026 - which will be in Philly, by the way. Back-to-back NL East stadiums with the game in Atlanta this season.
  17. I kinda liked it. John Lithgow was good and his character came around. I really liked the soundtrack at the time. Takes be back to my college days. I didn't have too many cassettes, and I couldn't bring my vinyl halfway across the country. But this is one that I had and played the heck out of it on my Walkman.
  18. Good for Fboy! That could be a fun experience!
  19. Griffin Canning is your man!
  20. Aug. 5. He's going to do better batting near Soto, and the build up will be pretty fun! Pete thrives in big spots.
  21. I have to believe the Mets would at lease match that.
  22. The whole focus on a unanimous vote is about the writers making this about the writers. Used to be making it on the first ballot was the biggest thing. Someone was "a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer." Now it must be unanimous, or the player is slighted. As long as you are above 75 percent, it doesn't matter. It's not like there is a difference between Ralph Kiner's 75 percent and Ichiro's 99.7. They're both Hall of Famers. Should everyone vote for the obvious players? Of course they should. Does it really matter? Not as long as they reach 75 percent. Buster Olney's podcast this week was all about the voting and there was much venting about seeking out the one holdout and doing Lord knows what to him or her. When we start demanding unanimous collective thought, that's a problem. "We need to all think the exact same way and outliers will be ostracized" is a bad way to go. Celebrate the 99.7 percent who got it right. Olney also went off on a rant about making all the ballots public and how sports journalists should demand transparancy. Sure. Sports journalists are by far the largest group that won't name sources - "a person familiar with the Mets' thinking..." -- so there's no way they'll want transparency. I did notice that ARod, Manny and the other juicers are going nowhere in the voting.Wonder if at some point the Hall will convene a committee and look at that era and figure out what to do with Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Clemens, Arod and the like.
  23. I suspect an Astro. I was hoping that Sabathia would go in with Cleveland's logos, but he actually spent more time in the Bronx and I'm not sure he never wore a Cleveland cap with the C.
  24. Here's the Hall of Fame Ballot Tracker, which as tallied about half the ballots prior to the announcement later tonight. The percentages tend to drop, so Wagner can't really afford to lose too may. I think Beltran will fall short. A litle surprised about Sabathia, who I did not think of as a first-ballot guy. Public Ballots: 202 Anonymous/Unverifiable Ballots: 11 % of Ballots Known: 54.3% Ichiro Suzuki 100.0% CC Sabathia 92.5% Billy Wagner 85.4% Carlos Beltrán 81.2% Andruw Jones 72.8% Chase Utley 52.1% Álex Rodríguez 39.9% Manny Ramírez 36.2% Andy Pettitte 31.9% Bobby Abreu 24.4% Félix Hernández 23.9% Jimmy Rollins 20.2% Dustin Pedroia 15.0% Omar Vizquel 12.7% Mark Buehrle 12.7% David Wright 10.8% Francisco Rodríguez 8.0% Brian McCann 3.3% Russell Martin 3.3% Ian Kinsler 3.3% Torii Hunter 2.3% Ben Zobrist 0.0% Troy Tulowitzki 0.0% Fernando Rodney 0.0% Hanley Ramírez 0.0% Adam Jones 0.0% Curtis Granderson 0.0% Carlos González 0.0%
  25. I'd be curious what Boras and Pete are asking for. You'd think if it was anywhere close to what the Mets are offering, they would have split the difference and called it good by this point.
