  1. I woulda liked to have him and his 200 innings of league average pitching back.
  2. seawolf17 wrote: Four years, $25 million is reasonable enough that he'll be cuttable in two years if they don't get what they need out of him. Can they cut him in two years with no penalty? I thought the contract was guaranteed even if they cut him.
  3. Livan Hernandez's rubber arm would be nice. But that heart and happiness stuff is overrated.
  4. Some funny moments, but not worth the 10 bucks. Wait for the DVD. Maybe 2.5 stars, but closer to 2 than 3.
  5. Centerfield wrote: Actual quote from Hank Steinbrenner: "If he opts out, that's the end. Unless he says he's sorry and promises not to do it again. Then we'll offer him a bigger deal than we were offering in the first place and try to play it off like it's a discount." I thought they offered him more the first time? OE: Yes I realize this is not an actual quote.
  6. ="A Boy Named Seo"]I kinda grew fond of Castillo. He looked like he absolutely hated losing and that's sadly not based on a small sample size. I kept waiting for his broken body to just go poof and for him to implode into a pile of dust, but writhing in pain, or just kinda hurting, he always busted down the line and hung in on DP's and made some nice plays in the field. His legs scare me, because if they go for good, there's not much left. 4 years is a long time. Me too. It hurt just to watch him hobble around last year. The four years scares me too. Hopefully when he becomes ineffective we can buy him out or something. Or just cut him and take the hit.
  7. Valadius wrote: My dad has a good source His hairdresser's cousin? ] who told him that Castillo parties way too much, and stays out really late, and that Reyes went out with him nearly every night after Castillo was traded here Now there's a real shocker. Professional athletes out partying, who could've figured?
  8. We're going to sorely miss those 200 innings next year. Can't wait to see who the 2008 Brian Lawrence/Jose Lima is going to be. Cuz right now it seems like he's going to get a lot of starts.
  9. Edgy DC wrote: My feelings about LoDuca are... complex. LoDuca can do that. He can inspire contrasting feelings in the same thread starter. Regarding the same topic even. http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=2828&highlight= http://www.getalifealready.com/cpf/archives/3400/f1_t3461.shtml
  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yeah, I found the whole Vote for LoDuca thing creepy and the kind of thing I wish the Mets were above. That said I don't believe they hate him now (well, Willie maybe for the whole You-can-tell-Willie-I-will-be-catching-Glavine's-300th*-no-matter-how-injured-I-happen-to-be thing) but I guarantee if he had a season more like 06 they'd happily overlook any and all slights. *Speaking of uncomfortably over the top celebrations. It was MLB being creepy though. It was going on at the parks and web sites for all the teams. Marketing and such I guess.
  11. Brilliantly informative. But I shouldn't complain, that's my exact argument whenever someone would ask if it would bother me if Clemens went to the Mets.
  12. Seems like ARod is staying with the Yanks. I guess the Snooze was right.
  13. I'm not sure that I follow the descriptions. I went with 5.
  14. Why is Alyssa chillin with Kaz? No wonder he started sucking as soon as he got to America.
  15. smg58 wrote: ="Edgy DC"]How about if they take a burdensome contract off the Mets hands? The Mets are mostly in good condition in this department, but Mets that are unlikely to produce at their salary level going forward include Scott Schoeneweis, Guillermo Mota, and Carlos Delgado. Mota and Schoenweis fall into the "addition by subtraction" category as far as I'm concerned, so any offer should start with them. A deal for Zito that involved those two would add $7.7M to the team You know, Schoeneweis had a pretty good end to his season. Finding good relievers isn't easy. Not that he is necessarily a good reliever but he might be.
  16. 5
  17. ]Would Mets have beaten the Sox? No. This thread is strong evidence that there are no Koolaid drinkers here.
  18. Hey not bad. I won a couple of bucks too.
  19. Kid Carsey wrote: I don't get the love affair with this guy -- especially since he plays two positions where we have our youngest and best players. One stud, and one stud in the making. I love our young studs too, but neither will ever be as good as Mr. Rod. Kid Carsey wrote: We need pitching. Pitching, pitching, and some more pitching. I think so too. If ARod does land in Queens Omar can't stop there.
  20. Valadius wrote: No. Never. He's a prima donna and would screw up the clubhouse chemistry. His teammates in Texas once called him "The Cooler" because he has a tendency to throw water on his team's success and ruin positive momentum. He's not a team player. This is pure stupidity. The cooler you are referring singlehandedly took his team to the playoffs this year and shhould win his second MVP in four years. Even if he hadn't done those things it's pure stupidity. Maybe the money is too much or the years are too many but the reasons above bother me. This is one of the greatest players in the history of the game. I'll pay the 30 million per of Fred's money. He's got a tv station and a new ballpark. He can afford it. I don't want him for 10 years though, that'll cripple the budget too much in the later years.
  21. jacob ellsbury - navajo I think it's Jacoby.
  22. I used to think he was a stud. Back in the day I was very jealous of Atlanta.
  23. My take is that this is all very ridiculous.
  24. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: They have Joe out there now. Just to make sure the message doesn't get lost, Joe has offered to eat aqn entire plate of shit. ="Farmer Ted"]Me thinks that they have a few guys not willing to re-sign if Joe goes. So this gives them one more year with the sap. Wusses. Ummm, you guys? What are you listening to? Joe turned them down.
