  1. ]Wind: 18 mph, out to left. !!!
  2. I'll go with that same order, too.
  3. But now they've shown that they're better than a 100-loss team, so expectations may rise, so they may flounder(ha!).

  5. I really liked the first one. Mainly for two reasons....Depp's performance of course, and because I had never seen Keira Knightley before. Being introduced to her would've been enough by itself. She's pretty Haven't seen the second yet. -------------------- Keira Knightley almost turned down a part in 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. The actress - who is on a worldwide tour promoting the sequel, 'Dead Man's Chest', to the 2003 hit - says the fact the film was based on a theme park ride put her off. She said: "I was like, 'Wait a minute, you're doing a pirate movie, something that hasn't worked in about 50 years, and it's based on an amusement park ride?!" The star - who was nominated for an Oscar this year for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in 'Pride and Prejudice' - was also convinced the original film was going to be rubbish. She revealed to America's New York Daily News newspaper: "Orlando and I were sitting next to each other at the premiere, which was the first time I'd seen it, and we'd had a big talk and decided that if it was awful, we'd still leave the theatre all smiles. "Halfway through the film, I nudged him and said, 'It's quite good, isn't it?' and he was like, 'Yeah, it's really good'. We had no idea it would work." The first movie, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl', eventually made $650 million worldwide. The second film opens this month, while a third instalment - tentatively titled 'Worlds End' - is due for release next year.

My apologies on this one (sc = zero). I misread what you said....thought you said the mediots were saying the ASG was fixed.
  7. There's an 11-year-old in Gooberville, Iowa, who has a combination of Babe Ruth's bat, Willie Mays' glove, Jose Reyes' speed, and Barry Bonds' ability to absorb steroids.
  8. Now now...that's not what I meant. NTTAWWT.
  9. *sigh* ......Still? You're going to keep after this? ="SteveJRogers"]="Elster88"]="SteveJRogers"]clearly I was talking off the top of my head. Clearly you were making an assertion that was entirely untrue. I did hear ESPN radio hosts Sunday afternoon wonder why Glavine decided not to pitch on Tuesday for no apparant reason This is not making a mountain of anything. What happened after someone told the radio host that Glavine started Sunday? --------------------------- This is what you said: "Therefore, as I said later the media blows these things up (usually when its someone like Pedro who doesn't go due to "mysterious" circumstances, especially when not on the actual DL) and its one of their agruments about how the ASG should be fixed and one of their self-fufilling prophesey about how the game has dwindled in interest. In other words its not a big deal that Glavine isn't going, the media makes mountains out of these type of things" My questions: Do you have examples of the media blowing up when a player starts Sunday and can't pitch in the ASG? Do you have a mediot saying the ASG game is fixed b/c a player starts Sunday and can't pitch in the ASG? Do you have an example of the media making a mountain because a player starts Sunday and can't pitch in the ASG? Or is it time to admit that you shouldn't blame the media for what you said, and move on?

  11. SteveJRogers wrote: I'm sure there are examples, When? You said the media makes a mountain of this. If I'm going to believe that, I'd like an example. A real example, not a made-up one. SteveJRogers wrote: but they must be on a local level, i.e. LA newspaper writers saying Sutton and Lasorda are pieces of crud for pitching Sutton on Sunday, therefore leaving him unavailable to pitch in the Tuesday All Star Game. Did this happen? Did the writers use the phrase "piece of crud"? SteveJRogers wrote: But since its not a big deal, the issue blows over and is forgotten in the next news cycle So no one actually "makes a mountain" of anything?
  12. SteveJRogers wrote: ="Elster88"]When has the media ever, in its history, made a big deal out of a player sitting out the ASG because he started the last game before the break? I'm sure its happened. When? SteveJRogers wrote: I'm probably thinking more local level, and clearly if it happened it blew over quickly When?
  13. Rogers, you're on fire this week.
