  1. I dunno. I'm not over the moon about any of them, but I like all of them. I think I went with Bay, but now I'm thinking Halladay.
  2. I'll be rooting for the Phils. Not thrilled about it or anything, but it's that or punch the next person who says the NL is clearly the inferior league.
  3. Thought I had a shot at second there, but the wheels are coming off.
  4. Word on the street is my boy will be joining the big club when the rosters expand. The other word on the street is that he's looking more like a ROOGY than the surefire closer they had in mind when they drafted him.
  5. I am stinking up all 3 leagues that I play in. The H2H league (i.e. my least favorite) is the least depressing; I'm just barely under .500 there. This is my worst fantasy season ever. In one league, my brother-in-law asked me to draft his team so he wouldn't get stuck w/ autodraft. Now he's in dead last. It's a whole season of FAIL.
  6. Looking sharp, Mets.
  7. Put me down for an empahtic 'ehhhh.' I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I'll miss Castro's antics and his striking resemblance to Shrek. I don't have any illusions that Santos is the second coming of Johnny Bench or anything, but he's been swing the stick ok and calling good games. They weren't going to get anything for Schneider anyway, and Castro is too injury-prone/disinterested to be an everyday catcher. I'm not convinced they had to make a trade, but there's nothing wrong with getting a promising(ish) young pitcher for a known-quantity-but-redundant backup catcher. Ehhh.
  8. The fact that nobody's mentioned it in this thread must mean that horrifying 23 Nissan commercial is a local ad and someone at my cable company has to pay.
  9. Hernandez 1 Castillo 4 Sheffield 3 Putz .67 Parnell .67 Wright .66
  10. Didn't think I was going to like Sheff that quickly. #500 was pretty clutch, though, and a cooler moment than I was expecting.
  11. Trade him. You'll get something for him. Think of some players you do want, and start offering Chipper in trade. Someone will bite.
  12. Did I mention I'm loving Pelfrey this year? I was so pumped when I got him, but now I'm worried that if he gets hurt or starts to suck, I'm going to be double disappointed.
  13. I made a few frustrating mistakes (which I always do), but my team's not horrible: 1. (9) Carlos Beltrn OF 2. (16) Carlos Lee OF 3. (33) Chipper Jones 3B 4. (40) Joey Votto 1B 5. (57) Ryan Doumit C 6. (64) Ricky Nolasco SP 7. (81) Jorge Cant 1B,3B 8. (88) Rickie Weeks 2B 9. (105) Yunel Escobar SS 10. (112) Jair Jurrjens SP 11. (129) Jonathan Snchez SP 12. (136) Mike Pelfrey SP 13. (153) J.J. Putz RP 14. (160) Brian Giles OF 15. (177) Jon Rauch RP 16. (184) Seth Smith OF 17. (201) Eric Hinske 1B,OF 18. (208) Jeff Baker 1B,2B,3B 19. (225) Jeff Keppinger 3B,SS 20. (232) Merkin Valdez RP 21. (249) Scott Olsen SP 22. (256) Barry Zito SP 23. (273) Pedro Feliz 3B 24. (280) Shawn Hill SP 25. (297) Mark Loretta 2B,3B I definitely wanted a couple more power/speed guys to go with Beltran, but this isn't a terrible start. Also: Shawn Hill signed with the Padres and not the Blue Jays. That should work out for me until his arm falls off again.
  14. Turned up to 11! Thanks for the assist, Fman99.
  15. Fman99 wrote: You should autodraft and rejoin. Just sayin' we could use ya. Motion seconded. Anyway, the draft is coming up and we still only have 7 teams. the yahoo league ID # is 75076 and the password is tator. Join if you're interested; it'll be fun. Did I mention prizes?
  16. Fman99 wrote: I will post the link on the boards for the other leagues I am in. The prizes should serve as incentive to join (it worked for me). Great idea. Thanks!
  17. We could still use more managers. I really don't want to open this league up to the hordes at yahoo, but I just don't have enough teams yet.
  18. I created an NL-only league for another web forum I'm on. Last year, they had one official 12-team mixed roto league and I was one of many who was bummed to miss out on it. This year, I made an NL-only league and coordinated with the commish of last year's mixed league to make the announcement, and only a few people signed up for my NL league. I'd like to have 12 teams, so if anyone here is up for it, you're welcome to sign up. In keeping with the example set by the commish of the mixed league, I'll pony up for 2 $25 Amazon gift certificates: one for the winner, one for most improved after the All-Star Break. tl;dr - NL only league with prizes. You in? Send me a private message if you're interested.
  19. Some talking head or other said Paul O'Neill. I like the idea of Murphy being a fan-favorite component of a 4-ring club, so I went with Other. O'Neill can still suck it, though.
  20. So there I just hurt myself.
  21. I'm already excited for a new season of fantasy baseball. I keep hearing people talking about switching to ESPN fantasy from Yahoo. I haven't ever played on ESPN, but I moved my friends and family league there this year (largely because I could do it right now and I'm not a patient man). Has anyone actually played on both? Is ESPN really better? Why or why not?
  22. I'm not saying it's rational, the best possible plan, or even an especially good plan, but I'd kill to get Nady on this team. Clubhouse presence, fan favorite, RH bat, can play 1st--that's a lot of pluses.
  23. ="Centerfield":eqt15dut]When did Kates, Katies and Kathys turn into "Kat"?[/quote:eqt15dut] It's been around at least as long as the movie, Mystic Pizza. I remember being baffled as a child that there was a person named Kat in that one. cooby Jan 24 2009 09:02 PM Wait, isn't this a picture of Donovan McNabb?
  24. Wow, that's great news about Baldelli. He's always been a likable player. I'd definitely be on board with adding him to the Mets' outfield.
  25. Edgy's not wrong. I'd still rather have that defensive replacement replacing Adam Dunn, but I suppose that's a pipe dream.
