  1. Wow. That kinda breaks it open. Upton had time to be sittin up on that wall. I'd have ran real fast straight to the wall and started climbin. Id'a just sat there and caught it.
  2. The Braves have overcome some adversity to get here and I respect em for that, but I could never root for them. In a Skankee/Braves WS I'd root for the Skanks.

Seeing Puig in the big show would be interesting, but the Pirates are gonna be the NL team. Oh yea baby, I said it. Bucs all the way. Dodgers would be second choice. That Puig guy, he's like a wild stallion who may never be broken. He is exciting tho, cuz anytime he may do something stupid and be talented enough to get away with it. Or lucky. Can you imagine how it would have played if they picked him off going back to first on that single earlier?
  4. Great game. Go Buccos! This was a big game. They had to win this one at home. Great crowd.
  5. Wow, this is a great game. OH CUTCH! Damn. And yea, Beltran.
  6. Great job Steve. Thank you. Oh yea, that game should be on soon. GO PIRATES!
  7. An article about Dusty in one of the NY rags today. Yep, Dusty butted heads with managment. Funny thing is it looks like the last two things they were at odds about were smart moves by Dusty. Chapman being a closer (Dusty wanted that, they didn't-Chap had a perfect year)and Dusty wanted speed demon Hamilton up on the team and they didn't. Hamilton played a big part in a few stretch wins. From just last week: October 2, 2013 6:00 pm Dusty Baker expected to return to Reds in 2014 by Jack Moore Reds manager Dusty Baker is expected to remain with the squad next season, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Baker is signed through 2014. General manager Walt Jocketty said he didn't think Baker's status was in question, so unless owner Bob Castellini gets the itch, don't expect Baker to go anywhere anytime soon. Castellini got the itch alright. Something must have gone down in the interim. Baker managed the Reds to the playoffs three times, including division championships in 2010 and 2012 to go with the 2013 Wild Card. He finished at 509-463 (.524) with the Reds and 0-3 in postseason series. Or maybe the postseason business. But come on, somethings going on here that don't meet the eye. Not that I care.

His gangsta voice sounds out of place with those other guys but I could get used to it if he says intelligent, informative things. I like the 63 Beatles group photo jacket he's wearing.
  9. Just saw a clear replay on that transfer. I don't understand this game sometimes. Yea, he dropped it during the transfer, looked like.
  10. Well, that's why they are there and the Mets are home watching. Good game. Great pitching.
  11. This game looks like its as good as over, but the Mets probably wouldn't score here, with bases loaded no out in the 9th at home.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: If I have one complaint about Darling it's that he plays the 'I wasn't a very good player' card too much. That's either false humility or maybe he really does feel inferior in the presence of HoFers like Ripken or just plain guys with superior careers like Hernandez. Either way, it's not a good trait for announcers. Paul O'Neill does the same thing. The guy was a lifetime .288 hitter who swears that he was like 1-for-30 against every pitcher from his era whose name happens to come up. In the meantime, that one Toriiiii Hunter caught then dropped in the transfer last inning. Didn't we have a game like that, either earlier this year or maybe last, where the ruling was that an OFer has to have a "clean transfer" in order for it to be called a catch? That seems to be a very arbitrarily applied rule. Darling says: ",.......right?" too much. We did but Hunter seemed to have had control of the ball, it was in his glove, for a long period, as these things go. And I coun't see the tranfer, he may have dropped it from his bare hand. The view I saw was almost behind him. How about how he adjusted at the last second to make that catch. He stuck his arm out and snagged that, and he was in that position cuz it was ripped and he misjudged it, lil bit, but that last adjustment. Phew. That's why he is one of the best glove men out there.

My guess is that when they signed Votto to his big contract, they expected to pay for it with playoff money, and they haven't gotten quite as much as they bargained for. Familiar story. Was for Omar Minaya, anyhow. Maybe they'll make a run at Charlie Manuel. But look at his managerial record. Or maybe I should before I tell you to. I mean, he's a good manager. They are gonna pay him anyway. They must really dislike him. I hope ol' Charlies back in the game ASAP. Game needs more guys like Charlie.
  14. The Mets aren't in the post season. We're all grouchy. Good game goin on here. Wow. Nice wierd catch by Hunter.
  15. MFS62 wrote: G-Fafif wrote: Opening in Cincy where Baker's been fried. Or Dusty's been wiped away. Either way, he gone. I'm going to miss all those disgusting closeup shots of Dusty chewing and spitting sunflower seeds in the dugout. Later Whats the deal with Dusty? He had a year left on that extension so they will be paying him next season regardless. Why do the Reds wanna get rid of him so bad?
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: There were games Thursday and Friday afternoon because they had three or four games to get in and they want as little overlap as possible. With only two games on tap for the weekend days, today's are at 5:30 and 9:00 while Sunday's are at 4:30 & 8:00 so there's not a ton of difference between the two. The answer as to why they're not even earlier has nothing to do with the either the scheduled play-in games or the TX/TB tie-breaker; this format is all quite intentional and has everything to do with television. TV execs know that more eyeballs are tuned in later in the day than earlier so they insist on later start times. If MLB wants the games played during the afternoon they'd have to be willing to take checks with fewer zeros in them from the networks in order to do so. The only sporting event I know of that takes less money in order to dictate their terms to TV instead of the other way around in The Masters. Well, duh. Of course it's TV. Maybe in the future they won't even need stands. We'll all pay to sit and watch em from home.
  17. Mets Willets Point wrote: Why on a Saturday afternoon in October are there no MLB playoff games being played? There were afternoon games yesterday when fans were at work. There will be afternoon baseball games tomorrow so they can go head to head with the NFL. But the most opportune time to play October baseball is shunned and we have to wait for two night games tonight. I'm going to blame this scheduling guffaw on the after-effects of holding the stupid Bud Selig Coinflip Classics earlier in the week. I agree W.P. 6 and 9. Bullshit. These games should be 2 and 4. Or one mid afternoon and the other at night. But two games in the sun would be preferable. Someday in the future baseballs gonna look around and wonder where all their fans went.
  18. Another great job, thank you. Number one on the list of worst baseball card expressions ever.
  19. Excellent job, thank you.
  20. Now I'll be running into this clubhouse a lot, I imagine. Somethings going on back there. Can't tell what.
  21. Gratz to Muffy, The Dark Knight, Hawkman and Valdesac. Great job Grimm and I appreciate you doing this. The cards, one word: awesome. And that's a great layout.
