  1. He puts things in the books too early.

"Now I'm living here in New York," the Cub who hit Tommie Agee said, "and I still have to listen to everybody talk about the Mets. That's OK. You have to give them credit when it's due, and in 1969, they had one great year. They were lucky as hell too, but did you ever think of this? Did you ever think that maybe we weren't really quite as good as everybody thought we were?" Also, Mr. Hands was not the Cub who hit Tommie Agee. He was the Cub that knocked him down trying to hit him. He couldn't even do that right. Ash-hole. Agee got up, dusted himself off, and grounded out to third. After that Tommie reeked havoc the entire game. Homered next time up, then singled and did all that running and scoring business. Hands was still in there to face Agee in the 8th and he walked him.

  4. Frayed Knot wrote: It's like the cop and Hunter are partners in some sort of odd synchronized cheerleading competition. lol
  5. I love the glove so I loved ReyRey, but his hole in the lineup taught me you could only love the glove so much.
  6. Meh, it's the Yankess but great catch, great throw.
  7. I'll personally thank Big Papi for not dropping an F-bomb there.
  8. unbelievable. what a game!
  9. Whoa! This is as good as over.
  10. metirish wrote: Ah, thanks......I thought at the time it made little sense....taking out Sherzer was a mistake I thought. I was talking for Bostons sake when I said knock him out. And I thought they would have to do that. I'd have left him in myself, using my bump strategy. And he would have had probably three bumps. That was a quick hook. I think 108 pitches is of no concern in the post season. Boston didn't even have to knock him out. Leyland surrendered him.
  11. Now that was interesting.
  12. ugh,WOW, what an effort by Hunter!
  13. [bigpurple:3mzx0msc]HOLY SHIT![/bigpurple:3mzx0msc]
  14. metirish wrote: WOW, 3rd pitcher since taking out the starter. And that's not what I meant by interesting but I guess it's to be expected.
  15. metirish wrote: Jesus Christ, why would you take out Scherzer?, he's still bamboozling the Sox. I wouldn't take him out. If Bostons gonna get back in this they gotta start putting hits together, knock him out, and get to the pen. They may not fare any better but they gotta get past him. Veras is warming up. Scherzer at 108 pitches. Looks like they will go to the pen. Could get interesting.
  16. Boston better break out the hittin' sticks. Or are they just happy to have two hits. They gotta knock Scherzer outta there.
  17. Is that Kenny Henderson? http://www.topps.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/2000x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/a/u/auction_hend_722.jpg
  18. That Cabrera guy. And another no-no going. I think tonight Scherzer gets it done. I expected some good pitching here and there this post, but this is crazy stuff.
  19. Ha. Drew sucks. Tonight. OOO, I like that glove.
  20. They were lucky as hell too, but did you ever think of this? Did you ever think that maybe we weren't really quite as good as everybody thought we were?" What a dick! I'm not sure how to read this. Is he saying that the Cubs weren't really that good, so it's no big deal that the Mets beat them? That's kind of a weird dig. Or is he saying that the Mets weren't good, just lucky? That just sounds dumb. I do respect that he never got over being pissed about 1969--none of that "We did our best and the better team won" crap. He also said: You have to give them credit when it's due, and in 1969, they had one great year. So to me he says the '69 Mets were great and lucky too. Then he disses his entire team which had four future HOF players on it. I think he's got a problem.
