Buchholz took 15 minutes to deliver the first 22 pitches of the game (yeah, I timed it). It's too depressing to do the math on that one for a per/pitch rate. Not that some of the batters aren't at least partially responsible for that pace, but most of that was on the pitcher. That foul call replay thing took too long. Wasn't even close. Despite all the promises and projections about time limits when replay rules are introduced, the reviews never go as quickly as in the plans. Ya know these new review rules, and now this stuff about not making contact on a play at the plate. I may just have to close the book on what I consider 20th century baseball.
Gonna be tough to get into this world series with the Cards rep'n the N.L. I'm happy for Beltraan and all dat shit but...I disliked the Cards well before Carlos got there. I do wish Beltran well but I think I'll be rooting for an A.L. team this year. That stand-off business was wacky and I like that. Not enough spontaneous craziness in baseball anymore.
