If he's so classy, he didn't need to mention it despite the prodding of the idiots in the main stream media ("that's water under the bridge, I'm just happy to be a [MFY]". He made millions from the Mets and that should have been enough to smile and say "I'm happy to be back in New York." I hope he hits .210 and is booed by the MFY mob by May. If the Mets didn't open their big mouths and put stuff out there that does not need to be put out there, we wouldn't even be talking about this. I actually think more highly of Beltran for slappin' back.

  6. No one is gonna bring this up? Beltran Felt Hurt And Disrespected By Mets (Owners) http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dc2nT?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=new-york-mets
  7. Here's the assault by pie again. I couldn't believe how hard he smacked him with that thing when I first saw it. That still cracks me up. And Jordy can see him coming and everything. He's like: I see you, come here, I'm ready for it, turns to the closest camera on him, and BAM!
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I welcome Mr Met to the uni. It would be great if they gave pitchers the Mr. Met pitching one and the hitter the running Mr. Met though. I like that idea. Or hitters can use the batting version of Mr. Met. This is a great idea. Couldn't they keep the classic logo on one sleeve and put Mr.Met on the other? I mean, our regular one is the best logo in baseball. I can go with wearing em both, np. I like the Met jacket that Collins wears that has the Mr. Met on the sleeve. But thats a jacket (and if I bought one I'd still probably have the logo put on the other sleeve).
  9. Mr. Met will be appearing on the sleeves of the Mets alternate blue uniforms in 2014. http://news.sportslogos.net/2013/12/20/mr-met-added-to-new-york-mets-2014-uniforms/ (That really should be "alternative uniform", by the way.) If that is in place of our regular ol' Mets logo patch I PROTEST VEHEMENTLY!
  10. Tried to make me think he could be a super hero savior. Then I got to know him.

I don't think he's going to get close to that from another team. Just my opinion, and, I may be wrong. LAter My opinion is that Choo's an idiot. Boros is the schmuck.
  12. I'm glad Terry says that if we have Davis and Duda opening day then Davis gets the nod. I don't even want to debate about that. I hope Ike's still with us and comes around. This most recent stuff I read today: I do NOT want to see Ike on the Yankees, thankyouverymuch.
  13. Sandyman says we can compete! I assume he means for more than 3rd place! After adding Bartolo Colon and Curtis Granderson, Mets think they can contend in 2014: Sandy Alderson But the GM added that he still has work to do on his club, including shoring up shortstop and first base. The team has been actively shopping Ike Davis in the offseason but have found no takers just yet. 14. Ralph sounded so vital.

  16. I'm confident that whatever they were doing to the fence there occurred during April of 1967 (painted over late April, early May) so I would go with the April game. If that was the year they added the plexi-glass to the bullpen areas it very well may be they decided to repaint the entire wall and layed on a primer coat, possibly covering the wall numbers with tape. Then maybe they didn't return to finish it until the end of the month. That's the only thing I can think of that makes sense. It would be pretty kool if we could find out for a fact what was going on with that wall.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: The Mets' two championship teams were largely injury-free. Yea. And I don't know if it's because I'm following the team more closer these days than in the past or what, but I've been amazed at the rate at which injuries have effected this team, as well as other teams. I'm going to enjoy this season coming up more than I figured I would. So don't get me wrong. I'm not down on the team. I'm okay with them coming in third if they play hard and show improvement. I think we are going to see some good baseball.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not on board with the idea that the team can't compete without Harvey. Sure they can compete. Realistically, for third place, as they have for the last few seasons. And at that we only made it to third once, last season. With big breaks, a few surprise performances, no major injuries, lots of luck, for the wild card. I'd never say that's not possible. Id never say first place is impossible either. But that would be a miracle. We are due for a miracle.
  19. I'm certainly interested in plan C as long as it keeps Muffy a Met. I figure there is an immediate need to address the Davis/Duda situation. That will dictate the first base situation for now. Ever since Harvey went down I've been thinking: okay, lets focus on 2015 because we are gonna need Harvey, in Harvey form, to seriously compete. So Davis/Duda, wrap it up. One of em's gotta go. No point in having two ? lefties playing first. If one of the two plays first in 2014 that will be their last chance at the position with the Mets. Give em a few months. If it don't work out start working on what to do about 1b about mid season for 2015. I'm not writing 2014 off like I was before we got Grandy and ColossalMan. We have a shot at some wild stuff. But I don't feel the pitching is all there yet. Fell pretty good that it will all fall into place for 2015.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Certainly not everyone is saying to push a Davis trade. Everyone who counts who's saying something or anything. This hurts me so very deeply. lmao. Sorry! I mean all those reliable, familiar with Metly thinking, in-the-know, inside, unnamed sources /via the usual suspect reporters. And you count more than them. Lil bit.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Certainly not everyone is saying to push a Davis trade. Everyone who counts who's saying something or anything. Like its THE priority. I don't dislike Duda. Just he can't field. I feel Ike is at least back to fielding to his best potential. And I hope he can find his way back to hitting to his potential. If it ends up the other way round and Duda gets 1b, I'll root for him. That's pretty much the only position I have any confidence in him playing. But I really think Davis is the better chance to take and Duda would do better as a DH.
  22. Ashie62 wrote: Personally, I believe Ike will be our 2014 Mets IB.. I'll agree with this. Everyone says push an Ike trade, and keep Duda. I feel the other way around. Duda should go to the Al and be a DH. That would be in his best interest.
  23. iirc these are photos of Tom and Charles.
  24. Ya know, I don't think I ever heard him curse or have a curse in a quote. The the older he gets (& the older I get) the more I love George Thomas Seaver. He's like a fine wine himself. Here he is about to catch the pop up off Hunts Helmet.
