  1. Ugh! With the injuries already! Might as well dust this old thing off: [fimg=500:2ynz3prw]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rACgVxgK8kMfdLPDW0FMzaopyDRNMq2lVIyy27GNnjr4A-YXhOtKA5XpeR0XRt5eHr8mYsmgtxAOz0lUCpoPC4yH-xklJxnb3MRVyANr0VAHnNTbUynV9AgGKoyYzQEXAD1KGnKCQqQJb_dVGw3Vkf-OzI_mKOcdwwQSIgikWrEOrZwi8jrPGMRSJxwViObx644Ri-yXQKoiGrVehs40wSocL43hQbty2-iDjbQoze1seCcfyChCZqCtfVS5j_y_xJ6UFwJLvDVViOo0Kd88TQTXX7BtXRJIebWhE7WsqYyfrWn0uX9qVag-927HMfY94BrrwBcFzOANGktss5z4zOhcgWVZMKi3a645hwA4dyNMEBIwsCS2ewCho-1Ua6c5xUPUzmyBeNbUrNW1toDNkOdc5kTTlHLUW_EOhcJ4K54SKQUlu5rxg8_UCpRcQ2bVz5ykl7ZJP5Zlk2URIELSJJZeHB5ijEb0e_jGTStpDsZ5ruGqnbVFjqvCkZ3A912JbkvU3gMZJ2Qg9XKZK227X_uQPX2RmP-NxwET6oU7Y1N0snSg1bIk7D1gHwBDDz-q2LwmPxoaiNWoL2FAI9PBKuIAYfFy53yAbGm73Pvc=w929-h956-no[/fimg:2ynz3prw]

  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: They've also shortened the commercial breaks between innings by 20 seconds. That will automatically shorten each game by at least five minutes. And... As part of the shortened commercial breaks, pitchers can throw as many warm-up pitches as they want before the timer runs out, though they are no longer guaranteed eight warm-up pitches. I'm surprised about this. To compensate for shortening the commercial time will they raise the cost of the commercials for the advertiser? It always seems to be just about the money.
  6. Centerfield wrote: Yup. I'm one of those that don't care about game time at all. If there were measures in place to shorten the work day, I'd be out picketing in support of it. But baseball games? Let's play forever. But that doesn't mean I don't realize that game times matter. Big difference between 2:40 and 3:20. Totally this for me. I think a pitcher entering a game, even after warm-ups in the pen, should be able to throw a few from the mound before facing a batter. Because mounds can be in different shape day to day, even in the same park. Especially mid game, after much use. I really wish they'd just leave the game alone.

  8. Good contact with an uppercut swing, if not solid and launched into the air, has the ability to create more and sometimes wicked spin on a batted ball. Especially on hard hit liners and sharp ground balls.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Guys playing outside their usual assignments always makes a game fun and interesting and memorable, with the potential for unexpected heroism or expected disaster riding on every pitch. Reyes in center, Carter at third, d'Arnaud at second, old Rusty in the outfield, Hundley in the outfield. Emergency catchers! Fat guys batting leadoff! Relief pitchers at the plate! Defensive tackles running with the football! Seven and a half foot centers chucking up a three! Soccer goalltenders taking a turn in a penalty kick shootout! Likely disaster, but possible heroism! Brace yourself for fun! Duda in left should top that list. I miss The Dude.
  10. I'm just damn tired of seeing L.J. Mazzilli stuck at AA. My goal is to live long enough to see him in a Met uniform, hopefully in his dad's old pants. I love this sentiment. But his dads old pants? Ewww. Unless they have been well kept and washed. And I guess he couldn't wear his dads old jersey. How far off is he?--I'll look--The New York Mets selected Mazzilli in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB draft. In August 2016, the Mets promoted Mazzilli to the Las Vegas 51s of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. Should be due soon. WikiP: During the 2014–15 offseason, Minor League Baseball suspended Mazzilli for the first 50 games of the 2015 season for his second positive test for a "drug of abuse". A "drug of abuse"? WTF? If a guy tests positive name the drug! Ugh, I'm sure it's some kind of arrangement with the MLBPA that they can't, but that's stupid. Is it a performance enhancer? Did he puff on a joint at a barbecue three weeks ago? Come on. Be transparent. Sr. wore #16 and #13, right? What number is Jr. currently wearing?? Cabby's got 13 but I do think 16 is available. Maybe we see him up this season after the break rockin' #16! Also, I can photoshop him into a Mets MLB uni if you can't wait. And, if you insist, wearing his dads old saggy over-washed pants from whatever year matches best.
  11. d'Kong76 wrote: He played center for an inning or two in a game in mid-May, but didn't get any chances. Then he didn't appear out there again until a stint in left in late August. First ball hit in his direction was a liner over his head, and he charged in, and it went for multiple bases. How do you recall things like this? It's Edgyfing! I'm very glad he does. Thanks Edge. The liners (or even fly balls) right in line with where the outfielder is positioned are the hardest ones to judge quickly and correctly. I'd a let him slide for that. But I also would have been out on the field the next day before the game hitting liners and fly balls right at him. Reyes can be a real super utility guy if he can man the OF too. All he needs is the proper time to adjust. This spring he should spend a good chunk of time practicing in the OF if Callaway is wise. Going from the outfield to the infield (at least for me as a teen player) is a lot easier than going from the infield to the outfield. Mainly because of those damn hot shots hit right at you. I don't see Flores being able to pull it off. I do see Reyes being able to handle it.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: That's what they've had all winter, man. They started the offseason with three once they removed Taijeron from the 40. They're playing fast and loose. If Reyes actually gets it down this year (they avoided using him there last year, and when they finally did, he was terrible), they will need him. If he doesn't, they may get caught with their pants down once or twice. How bad was Reyes? I expected Reyes to have no problem but I figured Flores would be tripping over his own feet out there.
  13. Wow. That took a lot of work. Very kool and informative. Thank you.
